Comedian Drew Carey confirmed to David Letterman today that he is indeed going to take over for Bob Barker as host of "The Price Is Right."
In a taping for tonight's episode of "The Late Show," Carey told Dave, "It's a done deal. I'm the new host of "The Price Is Right.'"
Drew told Dave that he found out the deal was complete while he was waiting to come out for the show. The deal is so fresh, Drew doesn't even know when he begins!
91. Cleveland is a city of losers and Drew is just one more. The ratings of this show will plummet and he will be canned after a year. His voice and looks are annoying.

95. CBS made the right call and I think Drew Carey will be great for TPIR! He knows how to entertain audiences young and old alike and should do just fine. He's got some mighty big shoes to fill but will get the job done with time. MAKE BOB PROUD!

96. I'm not particularly fond of Drew but I will reserve judgment on him until I see how he runs Price is Right. I watch it nearly every day. He could be great for the show, he could ruin it or be somewhere in between. I just hope he doesn't try to turn it into a comedy act for Drew Carey. That show is for the people who watch it and those who get to be on it.

97. I don't watch TPIR so I really don't care who hosts it. Do people really watch it? No, I mean does anyone really, really watch it?
I've never really liked Drew very much because he comes across so exagerated and sort of creeps me out....this will at least keep him off of prime time.

100. Carry is Funny and a very kiss ass likable pesonality who never really rocks the boat and I'm sure he can do the show but who would have ever thought that this hillbilly tpe of stupid humor that he does would ever endear him to the American Public.

101. I run into Drew often in restaurants in the Burbank -Toluka Lake area, Bob's Big Boy mostly. Every time I've seen him he has been so nice to the fans seeking an autograph or just wanting to say hello. I've always been very impressed by this. A couple of years ago one of my neighbors, who was a crew member on Drew's TV show told me of the off the hook Winter Holiday party Drew threw for the cast and crew, I believe he said it lasted all weekend and Drew had very nice gifts for all. Congrats Drew, you so deserve this! Other thespians should take note.

105. I'm happy he got the job. First off - CBS obviously saw something in him, if they gave him the job without an audition and only after seeing him film the pilot of Power of 10. Second, he's not somebody that will upset a whole lot of people... yes, there are those who will not watch simply because Bob Barker is not longer host (and these same people would request Barker's body be up on stage with animatronics after he dies), but I think it'll work out - he's an "everyman", he seems really excited about it, he's promised to keep the show the same, and he has received Bob Barker's blessing.
And finally, yes, people still watch The Price is Right. Its easily the most popular show in its timeslot (although The View has provided it with a run for its money) - college students, stay-at-home types, and grannies are their key demographic.
