The "Price Is Right" for Drew Carey!

Comedian Drew Carey confirmed to David Letterman today that he is indeed going to take over for Bob Barker as host of "The Price Is Right."

In a taping for tonight's episode of "The Late Show," Carey told Dave, "It's a done deal. I'm the new host of "The Price Is Right.'"

Drew told Dave that he found out the deal was complete while he was waiting to come out for the show. The deal is so fresh, Drew doesn't even know when he begins!

106. drew carey is gonna suck at this. i would rather watch reruns than see him kill the show. he'll try and make it funny and its a gameshow not a comical sitcom

107. I like Drew. My two choices were Drew and John O'Hurley. John has another gig I guess. I am glad the show chose a nice, down to earth guy.
Ryan Seacrest is too controversial I think. Probably not Bob's choice.

111. TERRIBLE CHOICE!!!! How about someone with some game show experience? John O' Hurley, or Chuck W. They would have been better choices to relate to the older geneation. He will never be the STAR of the Price is Right, nor should he be introduced as such. I am very glad that Rosie did not get selected. So things could be worse.

113. I also believed that Bob would take the show to his grave. I mean you just cannot say 'Price is Right' and not think of him. It's impossible.

But I enjoy Drew Carey and he is a people person. I think that he can take the show, however, I have a feeling in the beginning that many elder people are going to just stop watching the show since they may find it to be not as entertaining now since they don't have a spokesman of their own age.

Can't wait for his first episode!

PS: Rosie would have sucked as host....I would have to block the show from my grandmother's program guide.

114. Poor choice of HOST!!!! How can you go from Bob Parker to Drew? I think Dean Cane would of been an Excellent choice, You need someone CLASSY!!!!!! Or even Alex Trebek!

115. Drew will be a great host on this show! Let's face it, no one could do T.P.I.R. better than Bob but Drew will give it his own spin and the show will continue on for the next 35 years simply because it's a great format that will always have sponsors willing to pay top $$$$ to have their products tastefully presented as part of the show! **HAPPY RETIREMENT** Bob, and I'm glad you got out while you're still young enough to enjoy it!! :)

IF THERE WAS A DOUBT ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT TO END THE SHOW WHEN BOB RETIRED TO SEE IF SOMEONE COULD FILL HIS SHOES, THE WRONG PERSON WAS CHOSEN AND THE SHOW WILL NOW END, AS IT SHOULD HAVE WITH BOB. 117. Well, I thought that Rosie would have been fabulous, although middle America disagreed. Then my second choice was E l len Degeneres with her off beat style...I think that Drew will work out, but regardless who they ultimately pick, they have to make some changes in the game anyway. In a situation like this carbon copying this show would not work to succeed, it needs a fresh new spin for it to click without the public making obvious comparisons while keeping the original format the same.....I just love the show, and would have watched it regardless it.....Gook Luck Drew!

118. I'm really dreading this endeavor for Drew Carey. I really loved him in the "Drew Carey Show" but I honestly don't think the show will make it because I think they should have chosen an older person (so that the majority of fans can relate). I'll be watching but I just know that Drew Carey won't be ANYWHERE near as much fun and exciting as Bob Barker . I think everyone is going to be BORED STIFF when they compare Drew Carey with Bob Barker.
We'll just have to wait and see.
