The sophisticated SCRAM alcohol monitoring device which Lindsay Lohan voluntarily strapped around her leg wasn't the reason cops busted her for DUI Tuesday morning -- which begs the question -- what the hell was the point?
TMZ contacted a rep from the company that monitors the SCRAM bracelet who said, "I didn't even know she was arrested."

51. The ankle bracelet is not communicating with the "home base" until the evening (usually) - it communicates via modem which is usually located in the bedroom of the person wearing the bracelet. It gathers data on the person wearing it over the course of any day and uploads the information. To compare it to going to meetings and how it all does not work is not accurate - it all works when there is a willingness and desire not to drink and/or drug. Going to rehab and wearing a bracelet puts you no closer to recovery than going to McDonalds makes you a big mac.

What a mess these girls are. But, of course, with the money they have, they cna buy their way out of most situations, or pay someone to raise their kids. LL has a little sister that looks up to her and watches everything she does.
