Lindsay's Dad to TMZ: "I'm Partly Responsible"

Michael Lohan, Lindsay's estranged dad, who was recently released from a two-year stint in a New York state prison over a DUI, tells TMZ that he's partly to blame for his daughter's constant problems with drugs, booze and the law.

In an exclusive conversation with TMZ, Lindsay's dad said that he doesn't believe that the 21-year-old can survive this latest DUI storm on her own, and wants to put the nasty custody fight with his estranged wife Dina on hold, in a last ditch effort to save their daughter's life. "I want to withdraw everything -- court wise -- sit down with Dina as Lindsay's parents and figure out how to help her," Lohan said. "Lindsay can't do this on her own ... when we were together, none of this was happening."

Last month, a Nassau County Family Court judge ordered Michael and Dina to see a family therapist as part of an ongoing custody war over their two children, Ali, 13 and Dakota, 11. The couple was also ordered to stop speaking negatively of each other in front of their kids and undergo counseling at a hearing on Monday.

TMZ also contacted Lindsay's mother Dina, who had no comment.

52. of course it is partly your fault! hello! what kind of values have you and your stupid wife been teaching your kids? NONE!
I watch my sister in law struggle with the same issues. my mother in law is an alcoholic and addict (and i only say that because she goes to meetings and makes an effort to stay clean, otherwise she would just be a drunk) and was either high or drunk thru most of her formative years. now she is 20, been in rehab herself, contracted herpes and is knocked up by a guy we only hope will stick around to help out. if my sil was famous she would be just like every other hollywood starlet that has no family values taught from early on.
it goes to show that if the parents were there to help her thru everything, she would be okay.

54. Lindsay needs people with GOOD SOBRIETY, not her dad. Her father is too close to home for her. Better when its not a relative. Lindsay needs a spiritual awakening, she hasn't a clue and is too young to SEE it. Hopefully, she won't die before she COMES TO BELIEVE that only a power greater than herself can restore her to sanity.

55. I just don't get this girl. She's obviously very talented. We were just watching The Parent Trap the other day. She speaks fluent French. I do think she has idiots for parents, though. Her father is a total loser and her mother is too preoccupied with herself to care about anything else. Linday's going to be uninsurable at any studio that makes films if she keeps up her reckless ways. She needs to grow up, learn to live responsibly (without the nutty parents interference) and understand that Hollywood can be unforgiving. She might also hurt herself or others. Granted, she must want to be a better person but, what's up with expensive rehabs.? I've heard in "regular" ones, you get kicked out of the program if you don't comply. $50,000 + is A LOT of money to waste on a glorified "spa".

59. True. We as parents are responsible for how we raise our kids BUT, we are not responsible for the CHOICES they make as adults. Daddy-O is just looking for attention. Face it, Mr. Lo- you were a bad role model but Lilo made her own choices. She will now have to face what SHE did! Nuff Said!!!
