Rev. Al Goes to Bat for Bitches

Al SharptonRev. Al Sharpton is going to the dogs ... and by dogs, of course, we mean bitches.

Sharpton has turned his attention from celebrity news websites and is lending his voice to a crusade against ... dogfighting? Sharpton and hip-hop honcho Russell Simmons teamed up with PETA to send an open letter to all corporate sponsors of alleged dog fight creep Michael Vick, as well as to the Commissioner of the NFL. PETA picketed New York's Niketown store today.

In their letter, Sharpton and Simmons proclaim, "Hurting animals for human pleasure or gain is despicable ... Our battle must extend to those innocent animals who literally have no voice or choice."

Oh, really, Al? The good Rev was nowhere to be seen last summer, when Beyonce Knowles -- whom he strenuously defended when we called her outfit "roboho" -- was exposed by a PETA ambush for using the fur of smaller "innocent animals" in her fashion line. The confrontation during a lunch at Nobu, was caught on video and obtained exclusively by TMZ.

Rev. Al got right back to us when we asked for comment, pointing out that he joined PETA last year in protesting chicken industry practices: "Whether I or a person agree or disagree on a social issue, it does not entitle that
person or their attire to be referred to in a misogynistic manner."

33. This won't in any way come back to "haunt" Al Sharpton, in fact he will end up with a much more positive image than he had prior to this.
Silly poster.

Bravo Al.

34. While the dogs and Al are intellectually equal, they don't need his meddling. There are pleny of SIGNIFICANT groups to defend the dogs (that sounds ridiculous) and Al is just looking for media attention as usual. And the world would be a better place without whacko pit-bulls anyway, but that's a whole different issue. And I can't wait to hear the responses from all the people saying how sweet and loving they are.... NO they are not. There is something inherently wrong with the breed. When was the last time you read about a Poodle going on a rampage?

35. These are the times when I actually appreciate people like Rev. Al Sharpton and the good folks at PETA.

I sure don't agree with some of PETA's agenda, nor his, but dog fighting is just WRONG! So thank you, Al and PETA for fighting for a noble cause. Those people involved must have some really evil, sick, twisted minds.

Nice work!!

43. In this instance, I think the PETA supporter was too kind and too diplomatic. I would have been much harsher on this lame-ass wimp who can't even speak for herself. Yeah, Beyonce looks so pretty in those furs, but think of how those animals were put to death for VANITY purposes only. If she can deal with that, I hope her clothing line TANKS! Roboho-LOL!

44. Why doesn't al sharpton just shut the hell up? His opinion means nothing. He is just a loud mouth trying to get his name and face in the news whenever and where ever he can. I am sick to death of both him and jesse jackson sticking their noses into everything. Where were they when a gang of blacks, oops, i mean african-americans, or whatever, raped, tortured, and murdered this young WHITE couple? NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! Just crawl back into the hole you came out of.
