Rev. Al Goes to Bat for Bitches

Al SharptonRev. Al Sharpton is going to the dogs ... and by dogs, of course, we mean bitches.

Sharpton has turned his attention from celebrity news websites and is lending his voice to a crusade against ... dogfighting? Sharpton and hip-hop honcho Russell Simmons teamed up with PETA to send an open letter to all corporate sponsors of alleged dog fight creep Michael Vick, as well as to the Commissioner of the NFL. PETA picketed New York's Niketown store today.

In their letter, Sharpton and Simmons proclaim, "Hurting animals for human pleasure or gain is despicable ... Our battle must extend to those innocent animals who literally have no voice or choice."

Oh, really, Al? The good Rev was nowhere to be seen last summer, when Beyonce Knowles -- whom he strenuously defended when we called her outfit "roboho" -- was exposed by a PETA ambush for using the fur of smaller "innocent animals" in her fashion line. The confrontation during a lunch at Nobu, was caught on video and obtained exclusively by TMZ.

Rev. Al got right back to us when we asked for comment, pointing out that he joined PETA last year in protesting chicken industry practices: "Whether I or a person agree or disagree on a social issue, it does not entitle that
person or their attire to be referred to in a misogynistic manner."

47. This is in response to the comment posted by Haircheck ( she is one of the first ten people that made comments.) It's good that Al is defending animals and Beyonce dresses like a ho and acts like a ho.

48. Hell has frozen over! Rev. Al & I agree on something. Dogfighting is a repulsive, disgusting, barbaric "sport". The dogs involved need voices to speak for them and stop this horrific cruelty. The sponsors should take note that they will lose money if they continue to support thugs, such as Vick. No Nike for me until they break the relationship with Vick. This case shows that money can't buy class. The 43 or so dogs that were confiscated should have their chance against those who trained & abused them. Unfortunately, these abused dogs will be put to death after they are no longer evidence.

51. Hey folks, let's not lose sight of the real issue here and that's forcing/training any animal to fight for sport and spectator pleasure. It's beyond my comprehension with all that society has to offer in terms of entertainment, that blood sports such as this is still required. Where's a time machine when you need one - transport all those fools back to the Roman days, where gladiators and lions were pitted against one another for their pleasure. We haven't progressed much have we? When a pit bull kills, who do I feel for - the pit bull cause he/she did not chose to be violent but was trained by another, more inferior animal - Man!

55. As a born and bred New York City resident, I have grown to not like Al Sharpton, however so far this year both he and I are on the same page. This could only be an omen that the world is about to end.

57. It seems the Reverend's finally figured out his censorship battle was a dead-end in a free society. I'm glad he turned his attention to something else.

58. To the so called --Latoyajacksonlookalike

Sounds to me like you have a problem with Beyonce. Jealousy perhaps? So what if Beyonce wore a couple of furs in her past or even now? That's her prerogative. I don't care what Beyonce wears for her shows. She never behaves in such a manner outside of her shows. Paris Hilton dresses prim and proper outside and everyone knows she is a real WHORE. Beyonce is not in that category. Again, where's her sex tapes, rehab? Drug charge? Arrest?? The only flaw I find with her is that she's dating that THUG Jay-Z but I digress.

These damn PETA people will walk over a human suffering on the street but jump in front of a bus going 100 miles an hour to save a damned fox, dog, cat....whatever. I love animals too but PETA is extreme and it's ridiculous. They should be directing all of that energy and attention towards humans---people are starving around the world---people are dying everyday......People FIRST! Even God would agree with that!

59. So far from what I've been reading, it appears that poster #16 is the only that knows what the real deal is. In case you all don't know PETA is a phony organization that kills more animals than they claim they save. It's just so sad that a lot of people read or hear stuff from mostly the biased media and never bother to check things out or think for themselves before forming an opinion. Here's a reading assignment for all you PETA lovers.. see where your tax dollars are going: http://www.petakillsanimals.com/
While you're at it, here's another one for you: http://www.activistcash.com/organization_overview.cfm/oid/21

And as for Al Sharpton, just like one of the posters said, he doesn't represent BLACK people at all (Jesse Jackson Included). To me, both of them are nothing but hypocrites, publicity-opportunists, race-mongers, and selfish b@st%$%s. I get so frustrated when I see other black people rallying round these imbeciles when in actuality, they are just using them to make a name for themselves. By the way, you have to have your head buried in the sand if you truly believe that Al Sharpton is genuinely defending animal rights without a motive behind it. He is nothing but a phony.. how he became a reverend still beats me.

Oh, just so you know, am a BRODA too! Peace!

60. It's annapropriate for them to try and discredit or destroy Vick before he has been convicted of anything. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, or at least until he's been subject to a trial of facts. No question what he's accused of is sick and twisted, but their actions are premature.
