Art Linkletter Turns 95

Former "House Party" host and TV pioneer Art Linkletter had his own house party last night at Mr. Chow, celebrating his 95th birthday! He's also been married to wife Lois for 72 years. Give this guy a medal!

Our TMZ Star Kvetcher camera caught the nonagenarian in a snappy tie and tweed coat, and he was happily chatty, remembering when "Merv Griffin weighed 300 pounds in the '40s and was singing with Freddie Martin in San Francisco." Linkletter, along with Merv, is said to be one of the wealthiest men in entertainment, having invested in everything from oil and natural gas to hotels and even the Hula Hoop!

Linkletter was the host of the opening of Disneyland in Anaheim -- in 1955, and is 16 years older than Mickey Mouse! Art was born the year the Titanic sank ... during the Taft administration! And now he's on TMZ ... with Lindsay Lohan. Linkletter has been an anti-drug activist since losing his 20-year-old daughter Diane in 1969, in what was believed to have been a drug-induced suicide.

Art just published his 28th book, "How To Make The Rest of Your Life The Best of Your Life."

47. Happy Birthday Art! You have lived a blessed life and shared so much with others.
Art Linkletter is a positive thinker. He does not get into the negative that some have portrayed on this site. It only brings you down and as you see, he has led a wonderful life. He is entitled to his beliefs ,as any of the rest of you are. Learn to respect differences. He is a product of his age, upbringing, and life.

48. Can't emphasize enough that his daughter did NOT die of drugs, it was suicide. Wish I could just brush it off saying, 'well, people back then , thats how they were raised'. Art really missed a big opportunity to help people suffering from depression and mental illness and instead decided to jump on the 'I hate hippies and drugs' bandwagon. Bet he voted for nixon, too.

49. #37: I already admired Art since I was a kid. Thanks for informing me of some of his political views. It just adds to my admiration of him.
