Dubya: Fashion Fascist!

7/26/2007 1:52 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

With 543 days left in office, George W. Bush has beefed up security at the White House so much, he's now enlisted the services of one of the most dreaded forces in the Western world -- the Fashion Police!
Pres. Bush
Despite approval ratings at record lows, the ongoing war in Iraq and a health care system in dire straits, Dubya has decided to take on the very serious issue of -- tour group attire! The terror alert has been raised to: Fanny Pack! Signs have reportedly been put up around White House entrances to remind visitors of the dress code: no jeans, sneakers, shorts, mini-skirts, t-shirts, tank tops, and most importantly, NO FLIP FLOPS! Paging the Northwestern women's lacrosse team!

With the new policy, the White House now has a more stringent dress code than the Vatican! Further proof that Bushie wants only conservatives in his White House. The Pontiff merely asks for covered shoulders, no shorts or skirts above the knee. Holy chic!

You won't see the Republicans talking such nasty trash about a president, even one from another party. We can criticize without acting like nasty children. That's something I've learned about liberals. And they are only liberal about their own views, not allowing other views.

The White House should be a place of respect. A dire problem today is the lack of respect for everything in our society, including our government, our flag, our country, and the result is a society filled with Parises, Lindsays, others, no respect for the laws or for other people who might get in their way while they are indulging themselves.

Flip flops are nasty and are beach wear or summertime casual wear, not appropriate for public consumption. The White House can set whatever policy it wants for tour groups. If you don't like it, don't go. There are many foreign visitors on these tours and part of their impression of this country is how its citizens would dress visiting the nation's capital. Do you think you'd tour the capital of some other nation dressed like a bum? They'd probably throw you out, or gee, maybe put you in prison for awhile for showing disrespect for their country.

TMZ needs to get off the juvenile President Bush attacks. He's the president, elected twice by a large portion of the population of this country. It is a fact that the democratic party is made up of a large proportion of uneducated people. That, in fact, is what the democratic party uses as its power base. That is why the democrats keep promising "pie in the sky" free health care, high wages, more and more government benefits, which will never happen because when push comes to shove and the other democrats find out who will pay for those benefits (they will), they dig in their heels and refuse to participate.

Everybody probably would love a lot of free stuff. I'd like some, but I'm realistic about who pays the price for the "free stuff." There is no free lunch. Somebody pays.

I didn't respect Clinton and highly disapproved of him, but I never talked nasty trash about him because that's too low class for me.

Try growing up, TMZ, and see what happens. I'm betting you'll have more readers because right now you are driving them away.

No jeans? Ridiculous! AND - to one night in Paris, the dress code is for TOUR GROUPS! They're on VACATION! This has nothing to do with what professional people wear to work.

Mr. Bush, there's a war in Iraq, and another in Afghanistan. The economy stinks, and YOU'RE worried about what someone wears to visit the White House? Shame on you!

I think it is sad commentary on us, as Americans, who would go to our nation's capitol and tour the White House, the home of our Commander and Chief, looking like refugees. We take no pride in ourselves. No one feels the need to put on "nice clothes" for anything except work. Not even church anymore. When's the last time you kids went anywhere with your mom and she wasn't wearing sweats or jeans? Guys... when's the last time you took your wife or girlfriend out to dinner and wore something other than jeans, sneakers and a clean t-shirt? Parents... when's the last time you took your children to dinner, even at Shoney's, and expected them to wear nice clothes and use some manners? When's the last time everybody gathered at Grandma's for her home cooking, only to walk in looking like you just came off the ball field? If it is impossible for you to tour the White House looking and acting like you've had some upbringing, then don't go.

If TMZ is SOOOO immature, and if people have such an issue with what's said on here, then WHY COME HERE!!! I have seen it on SO many posts, people coming on here to read the articles and then doggin the site!!! it OBVIOUS that everyone knows that TMZ runs a tabloid site that is less than classy in its commentary and its entertainment news that we've come to EXPECT from here. If ya'll really have a prob with TMZ, go to CNN or somewhere a little more conservative. I don't know why people keep thinking this is some ultra-conservative site that has high taste in reporting...it's not!! This is an ENTERTAINMENT SITE that reports on the odd and intersting news that other news won't report on, or at least gives the stories a different spin!

Now to the story at hand...i am not a bush supporter, and in fact consider myself more democrat than anything BUT i have to agree...it's the White House and i don't blame the dress code rules. It just a sign of respect to walk into a place with so much history and importantance and treat it that way. i mean, this is where the country is governed, so why dress down for the occassion. Yeah, it sucks that you can't be chill for this portion of the tour (whatever tour you're taking) but OH WELL, just prepare yourself ahead of time. It's not gonna kill you...
Yeah, Bush could be focusing on more important issues, but SOMEONE has to enforce dress code at some point...maybe just someone a lil lower down the chain, but HEY what's done is done...now we all know!!

This just proves what I've known all along....Bush is running the U.S. according to his "faith-based" values even though he calls his country a democracy. There should be a certain decorum when touring the White House, however, I don't see a problem with wearing jeans. He's not the vatican nor a church.....so, what's the big deal with wearing t-shirts, reasonable length shorts and sneakers. He's gone beyond the pale!

CKNPOTPIE (#92)/CAROL MARIANE100) - Are you guys for real??! I highly DOUBT that with all Bush has on his "plate" he can't sleep at night over the white-house tour-group dress code so he writes this up and makes it into policy. Get a friggin' life, I DOUBT Bush was the main person behind all this.

Honestly, people SHOULD have a little respect when they tour the White House, Capitol, or other historical buildings. What's wrong with having to dress nicely?!? And CAROL, dressing nicely has NOTHING to do with religion or faith or anything like that. Good grief.

TMZ...can't say I'm surprised you have an article like this. Nice attempt at a hack-job on Bush and his "policies."

To 91 and 99, I have no complaints with tmz.com nor Harvey Levin, the site's owner. I know for a fact that he (a lawyer) and his staff, research all their sources. TMZ.com is not the problem.....unfortunately, it's some of the people under 30, who post here. Many sound juvenile or immature with their offensive insults and their school yard comments. The "guys" who post here....they haven't grown up yet and some of the comments get downright nasty.
TMZ.COM's owner has subbed for Larry King, who's on CNN and CNN isn't necessarily all that conservative. If any cable channel is Conservative....it has to be the Fox News Network. It's more a tabloid-style channel, and I wouldn't even compare CNN to Fox!
If Robert Shapiro, formerly a defense lawyer for O.J. Simpson, can promote his new legal firm on t.v. then so too, can a lawyer create an entertainment website about what goes on in the thirty mile zone. The U.S. is! a relatively free country.

SO who's going to be the enforcer? Smirky Jerk Chaney with his pistol loaded at the front door while the village idiot upstairs finds more ways to flush the country down the toilet?

Some might think Bush has been losing sleep at night, but I don't think so! He's actually a Puppet Vice President (behind the scenes) bringing out his (questionable faith-based in support of their administration) while the snake Cheney has run the show!
Let's see....where's the infamous General Tommy from Texas, Donald Rumsfield, and the other early heroes of the shameful Iraq War?
