Rebecca Schaeffer's Killer Stabbed

Killer Robert John Bardo, who was convicted of stalking and killing actress Rebecca Schaeffer in 1989, was stabbed by another inmate yesterday. Bardo was stabbed 11 times while he and fellow inmates were walking to breakfast in the prison yard, according to Mule Creek State Prison officials. He survived the attack.

Schaeffer was the star of the 1980s sitcom "My Sister Sam." Bardo was obsessed with Schaeffer and stalked her for several months. He eventually tracked her down with the help of a private detective, and shot her to death when she answered the door of her L.A. home. She was 21.

The suspect identified as responsible for stabbing Bardo is serving an 82-years-to-life sentence for second-degree murder. Bardo was 19 when he stalked and killed Schaeffer. He is serving life without parole. The case led to the classification of stalking as a felony in California.

61. Seanflynn, #52, you have NO IDEA what it's like. My best friend's murderer is playing cards and shooting hoops in prison. He's still alive. He has no remorse. HIS SON whom he MURDERED, is in the ground. So just shut the hell up already. You do not know how it feels.

As far as seanflynns most recent comment it is easy to "TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU WOULD IF IT EVER HAPPENED" however until it does happen you do not truelly no how you would react. Again please do not interpert my comments to mean I support the death penalty because I do not I support harsher prisons.

65. it is too bad that spears. lohan etc..... can't learn something from how to live from this young woman. lindsay is the same age as rebecca was when she was killed, and look how she is acting. of course i realize different family situations and different growing up experiences, but lindsay and britney could take a lesson from rebecca on how to live.

"But the blood-thirsty, callous way most supporters defend it shows them to be filled with the same streak of violence and desire to kill that actual murderers have.
Disgusting and totally uncivilized."
********************************************************************************
That reasoning is just ridiculous. You are a bleeding heart liberal, aren't you? Or an "actual murder", as you seem to know the desires of one.

68. I remember him well. He was so excited after the shooting. I will never forget the interview with him where he explains what she said when she answered the door, the sound she made when he shot her and how he felt about it all. SICK SICK, SICK! I hope he got a big taste of pain with his stabbings. Now he might really know what she felt like.

69. I don't think all murders have a desire to kill; killing is just one of the things they do in their life of evil.

70.
my family actually has discussed how we would react if any of us were murdered. We agreed together that we would ask for life imprisonment, not death.

Posted at 2:35PM on Jul 28th 2007 by seanflynn

I respect your view. If someone in your family is murdered and you want to send them roses that's up to you. But if someone in my family were murdered I would want the death penatly. No one wants to die. Ask anyone on death row - that's why they keep appealing. But they didn't have the heart to think about that when they are raping , torturing and brutally killing poor women or children. Heck even poor men.

Accidental murder is totally different. But stalking or raping and torturing sorry they deserve what ever the family of victim wants.

71. That man is pure evil, and deserves to die. Why do liberals want to keep evil alive?

Posted at 3:08PM on Jul 28th 2007 by Petite

72. why didn't they just let the piece of trash bleed to death?

73. Seanflynn #58, in some cases, there is doubt. IN SOME CASES, THERE IS NO QUESTION. Sometimes there is a witness, as in the case of my friend. NO CHANCE of mistaken identity here. There is a difference and these things should be handled on a CASE BY CASE basis. I imagine his killer, laughing, playing, joking, watching tv.

You should really keep your liberal ideals to yourself until you have walked in these shoes.

Tuna Marie, thank you, that means alot to me.

You must be one of the few. Because people on death row fight to the last minute to stay alive but they sure didn't give that opportunity to their victim.

( You say that now - but like they say there are no atheists in foxholes.
