61. First of all the term "Black Community" is a misnomer. Black people in America are diverse and occupy positions at every level of society. We are not a monolith. What's good for me may not be same as what's good for my neighbor. So called black leaders are not elected or selected. They are self proclaimed or media proclaimed "leaders". Someone on here asked "where are the fathers". Then there was some discussion about illegitimacy rates among blacks and Hispanics. Give me a break. When I hear people start quoting statistics when arguing black and white issues it raises a red flag for me. Paris Hilton has a mother and father and how's that working for her? Ditto for Lindsey and Twitney (let alone her pregnant sister). Statistically, 100% of rich, white, marginally talented women in Hollywood who have a mother and father end up in rehab, jail or both.
Usher was fortunate enough to have a strong caring mother who had business sense and turned the cliche' of the single black mom on it's ear. Admittedly this cat has some issues but so does everyone. We all have the right to our opinions but save your BS statistics for someone stupid enough to believe them and you.

If the National Enquirer areticle is true. That she is a low life - welfare mom - arrested for fraud. Then he may have found out that she is a scammer and a skeemer.
I think she is pushing to get married - because it's not his. She figures if she is in the house and married to him. Then when the baby comes will be too far into her to bail out.

I don't believe this story about they disagreed over what kind of reception to have.
You don't pullout the good ole Webber grill if you live in the Hamptons.
I am sure the caterer could have created an UPSCALE BBQ. I am sure L.A. Reid - would not throw - just any ole kinda party. As C.E.O of a major record label. I am sure - it was not to be ribs, chicken and a loaf of Wonder Bread.

66. His mother is not so bad. She was a goood manger and it is good now that they split their business deal. She should want to go off and mange new people. Enjoy her life more without business. Usher is not so bad. he has just made a costly and lifelong mistake in hooking up with this hussey and getting her pregnant. You can't blame his mother for notbeing overjoyed he has hooked with a criminal-already mother of two from another relationship, moneygrabbing, set for life, older by 10 yrs. woman of a questionable past! 68. Differences are to be expected with any couple. It's how you work through them that makes you solid. I hope Usher and his expectant Bride-to-be (on hold) stand up for themselves and respectfully but firmly take long overdue control from Mamma. It's your time now. You need to set good boundaries with people; marriage vows state right upfront 'and let no man (or woman, momma) put asunder'. Then they need to reschedule that fancy sit down wedding with all the bells and whistles for Usher, with a celebratory barbecue for the bride either before the fancy wedding, or after they return from an amazing honeymoon. Don't let others sink your family. Usher needs to display some leadership and fight for his family, because marry or not, it's already started and will be here in 9 months. It's not what happens to you; it's what you do with it. Show what you're made of, and go get 'em. Good luck and sincere best wishes to this couple just starting out.

69. On one hand, I'm sorry things didn't work out because it seemed like they wanted to welcome their new baby into a loving, committed family unit. On the other hand, Usher is a mama's boy with a type-A mother, and Tameka has a major type-A attitude. (He is marrying a girl just like his mother, and a word of advice to Usher... NO WOMAN WILL EVER BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR MOMMY :-) When you have 100 guests flying in for a formal wedding and extravagant reception at an incredible estate in the Southamptons, after asking them for a $4,000 espresso machine, you don't serve bbq sammies and beer. They have lots of friends. Why not have a more casual backyard bbq later? If they cannot compromise on something like the reception food, they have major issues between themselves. They should have invited Usher's mother and his godfather, and left it up to them to decline the invites if they disapprove of the wedding. This sounds like a huge mess instead of the makings of a loving union in the eyes of God.

Right on regarding mothers and, especially, one that appeared to have been successful in guiding his career. His mother's wisdom is not a symbol of him being a weak man or sissy.

Where did his career go after he got involved with this woman? Trustingly, he woke-up and was the one calling the shots (yesterday) regarding the cancellation of a "wedding" and the realization of long-term commitment to someone who doesn't share his personal values (refer to People.com article) and the loss of any fortune he built up while being managed by his mother.

Eddie Murphy's six-month* dating period with Scary 'Spice has led him into a potential long-term baby mess. He, obviously, figured out what she wanted from him though it was too late. Now he has Gloria Allred breathing down his neck on behalf of a foreign bitch. The Spice Girls reunion is going nowhere but she'll increase her wealth through her (second child born out of wedlock) child's paternity and a book deal! Men always remain committed to their first family!

73. This should not be about what 'Mother' wants. It should be about what Usher and his fiance want, and 'Mothers' only job should be to HOPE for his future and his happiness, not to tackily continue to attempt to manipulate it even at the wedding stage. She needs to step back and love them in a different capacity. If she and the fiance are bumping heads, then the fiance may just be worth her salt, and up to being Mrs. Usher. If Momma could push them around, that wouldn't bode well for the future either. Any marriage only has a 50% chance of succeeding as it is without busybodies interfering to contribute to the negative side.
