Gore Goes Guilty

Al Gore III pleaded guilty Monday to possessing marijuana and other drugs, but a judge told the former Veep's son he can withdraw that plea and have the charges dropped if he successfully completes a drug diversion program. What a bargain!

Cops say the 24-year-old was going 100+ MPH in his Prius on an Orange County freeway when they pulled him over. Multiple drugs were found in his car.

Gore pleaded guilty to two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription, and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession.

He will be sentenced on February 7.

Ok Diva. Don’t be a playa-hata. What #s are you referring to? Wouldn’t have to do with skin-tone would it. I have numerous close and personal friends from all races, creeds, and lifestyles, and we all have the same understanding about “true-ignorance.” The comment made by “WHAT” was RACIST and based on pure-ignorance. You are either RACIST too or an ignorance-sympathizer.

I'm going to take the high road here and say that he isn't the first rich person to get away with a slap on th wrist and he won't be the last. Hell, if I had that kind of money and a loved one got in that sort of trouble I would pull some strings too. In fact I'm willing to bet almost everyone here would. I hope he cleans his act up. What's wrong with these young people?

You know, you're all complaining about him getting off with a slap on the wrist. Or, that he got a good deal because of who his father is.

At least he actually said he was guilty, unlike some people we know. At least he's not out there professing his innocence, blaming the black kid for driving, saying the drugs weren't his, putting the whole thing off for months upon months, or whatever else these other people have done. At least he pled guilty to FELONIES I might add!! He didn't cut a deal to plead to a lesser offense such as excessive speed like DUI offender Shemar Moore did recently. He doesn't have people out there claiming that he wasn't driving or the drugs weren't his like Lindsay Lohan's uncle is doing. He's not inventing some mystery illness like Paris Hilton did. And he's not trying to dispute a test like Nicole Richie attempted to do.

He has owned up to what he did. He's said he was guilty. He wouldn't have pled guilty to the felonies knowing that he could do some serious jailtime if he was just trying to get out of being punished. That's more than I can say for some people. Nicole, Paris, Lindsay, Shemar? Are you paying attention? Maybe you could learn a thing or two about being responsible for your actions.

Kia, never mind the mileage, what if he had hit someone? He gets away with this in 2 states over a period of years. what gives? Anyone else would be locked up.

there wasn't any special treatment here guys...so save your celebs get special treatment whining for another day. He's elgible for the drug diversion program under California Penal Code section 1000 (no prior conviction for possession, etc.). Neither the Judge or the D.A. can deny him this even if they wanted to. Any person, rich or poor, white or not, who is eligible gets diversion.

I can't believe anyone could think this guy is a hero because he actually said he was guilty instead of fighting it in court

The only reason he said he was guilty is because his well paid/ polically connected lawyer convinced the judge to let him plead and get off with a slap on the wrist. Why? Because the chance for real jail time was too great.

Here's what happened. They gave Gore3 two choices... plead guilty and go to rehab (again) and get you name cleared OR, plead not guilty, fight it, and risk going to jail for 2 years. He knew that his previous problems would come up in this trial. He knew the evidence as against him. Plus, having Daddy in attendance in the courtroom every day isn't good for either of their political futures.

The fact is that he was CAUGHT doing 100mph while drunk or high or both and having illegal drugs in the car. The case was closed. He had no choice and had his lawyer come up with the best thing they could come up with.

Then, the Gore PR team worked with the media to suppress the story and tell how this is a family tragedy and make us all feel sorry for him. Ya, right.

This guy is no hero. He's a menace. He needs to do some real punishment before he hits rock bottom and starts to come out from under Daddy's protective shell before he does more harm.

Thank you for the clarification on California penal code Legal Analyst. We have something very similiar in Texas (deferred adjudification). Seems to put everything back into perspective.

This is very common. You always plead guilty with Drug Court and after you complete, your original charge is dismissed and usually sealed. He is not getting any special treatment because if he doesn't complete and fails toxicology (Urine/Swab) tests, he will either goto jail and/or goto residential treatment and not get the deal.

It is far from a slap on the wrist. I went through Drug Court years ago and it was the best thing that happened to me. Now I am licensed and work in the field.
