Lane Garrison Relives Deadly Drunk Driving Crash

TMZ has obtained a chilling video in which former "Prison Break" star Lane Garrison relives the night someone died while he drove drunk behind the wheel of a car.

Fighting back tears and with his voice trembling, Garrison has gone back in front of the cameras -- to record a powerful and graphic public service announcement was directed by Andrew Gallery for The Troy and Alana Pack Foundation.

Hoping to prevent people from making the same deadly mistake he did in the December 2006 crash night, which resulted in the death of 17-year-old Vahagn Setian, Garrison warns drivers, "Just don't drink and drive, it's not worth it, it's just not worth it." Eerily realistic recreated footage of a drunk driving accident plays between clips of Lane's emotional plea. Amid the devastating wreckage, a frantic woman can be heard screaming "My boyfriend is dead!"

Garrison pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter, felony DUI with bodily injury and one misdemeanor count of providing alcohol to a minor. Sentencing is scheduled for August 2.

166. He's been changed permanently since the day this tragedy happened. It's clear since he began attending AA meetings (and sobbing regrets in pix reported by TMZ). Give him a break skeptics.

He ISN'T acting.

And frankly this announcement worked. I, like so many of us, have thought I was "fine" and drove after having more than I should. Not sloshed, but more than one drink actually registers on a DUI and impairs judgment. I won't even go there anymore.

I'm so sorry for your pain and the pain of those forever changed that night. God bless.

168. Can we please remember that this man is an actor . . . the only person he's "crying" for is himself. And, this public service announcement was probably part of his sentencing.

169. tmz you should be ashamed for not posting what the public thinks and swaying the comments to reflect your own opinion...just watch i will make a public thing of this...pityful when the voice of the real public is silenced by your censorship...who would guess that a blog such as yours would be so cowerdly...taking screen shot and sending

170. Why the hell was this guy hanging out with a 15 yr old anyway? What people his own age are too immature for him? He killed a child. I know that I wouldn't let my 15 yr old son hang out with a guy who is in his 20's. Friend of the family or not.

172. Everyone of you who talks on your cell phone while driving could be him . You will say it's not like him because you were not drinking, but in prison no one cares if you had to much to drink or took to many phone calls. it just takes a second, Just as it took this person one night of drinking to much. Judge on self rightouse.

173. How I loathe alcohol. It's the cause of broken families, broken homes, battered wives, abused children, carnage on the roads and a drunken bloodbath in many towns on Friday and Saturday nights. Of course every other night of the week too, but weekends are worse.

It leaves innocent families devastated and heartbroken because of some sloppy drunk not knowing when to stop. Children grow up without fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters because of some drunken fool getting behind the wheel of a car.

And this drug is legal!

176. Stats say that drunk drivers drive inebriated over 100 times before they get caught. The recidivism on drunk driving is enormous and the driving without a liscense because you were an idiot like me to drink and drive just compounds your ignorance. But the bottom line is alcoholism and drug addiction is proven to be a sickness. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT THEY DON'T BUILD ALERNATE ROUTES FOR THOSE THAT CHOOSE TO DRINK AND DRIVE, SO THAT THE ONLY ONES THEY HARM ARE DRUNK AND HIGH LIKE THEM. Reformed and happy for it. MILAGRO

177. "A powerful and graphic public service announcement..."

...with a Miller Genuine Draft banner-advertisement at the top of the page.

Way to go with staying on message, TMZ.

178. Like a previous poster stated -- it did not "happen to you" loser -- YOU did it -- YOU killed a kid...so many things WRONG with this video, I can't believe the outpouring of "way to go, Lane" comments above?!?! Let's see:

1. He was DRUNK and HIGH...Cocaine as well as vodka...hanging out at a high school party with 17 year olds.
2. The video looks like a recreation of a high school party with a KID behind the wheel -- NOT Lane...the "recreation" of the "night," is not even a recreation of HIS night as a drunk driver.
3. Lane wrapped the LRover around a tree -- he wasn't T-Boned in an intersection
4. He is all dressed, made up and lit like a movie star -- not the murderous felon that he is.
5. The paced delivery -- the cuts to close up? This is a screen test, not a contrite PSA
6. Finally...the inexcusable scripted line that "it happened to me."

Ridiculously poor decision to make this ultimately damaging video. I hope this is used against him for the above reasons when it comes to sentencing.

179. This is so sad I feel bad for everyone involved innocent people's lives have changed forever. It is verly scary to see and hear. this video. I hope this message reaches the public to make them realize it is so important to not mix drinking and driving. Too many young people have lost their lives due to this. It is a parents worst nightmare.

180. my ex bro-in law was killed by a drunk driver 6/12/2000 and let me tell you it was devastating to our family. the guy had 8 prior convictions and this was his 2nd fatal accident but he only did 6 mos. in jail! my children were in the car just 5 minutes before the wreck even. i count my blessings everyday now. i feel for this kid but guess what buddy, you're going away for a helluva long time and you damn well deserve it too, and if you think you dont deserve it just remember what the kid who died sentence was.
