Nicole Confirms Worst Kept Secret in Hollywood

Nicole Richie finally tells the world: "Yes, I am. We are. I'm almost four months."

In an exclusive sit-down with Diane Sawyer, the celebutante talks for the first time about the impending birth of her child with Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden.

ABC says in the interview, which airs on "Good Morning America" Thursday and Friday and on Hot mommas -- click to launch"20/20" Friday night, Richie "speaks candidly about why this particular constellation of young female stars -- Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, among others -- have behaved badly so publicly." She should know!

As for her upcoming stint in the slammer, Richie told Sawyer, "I have a responsibility and it's something that I did wrong, and if I could personally apologize to every single person that has lost a loved one from drunk driving I would," she said of her recent guilty plea. "And unfortunately I can't, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult."

By the way, TMZ told you this tidbit on July 3rd.

153. I really hope she miscarries. No, seriously. With as much booze and drugs as she was doing when that baby was conceived, and considering that the first two weeks after conception are absolutely critical and is when the developing embryo is most susceptible to damage from, say, booze and drugs, I'm betting my money that if that baby makes it to term, it's going to have SEVERE developmental problems. If you though the mother was a retard, wait til you see baby!

158. ok i do NOT like nicole, never have and never will. i also think she'd a spoiled rich girl who got off WAY to easy for what she did. come on 4 days, oh wow how ever will she servie? to me that saying if ur rrich u can do ANYTHING you want and nothen will happen to you. doesnt anyone else see something wrong with this picture?

as for her having a baby, i hope its health and stronge, becuz it's going to need all that strongth. and though i dont like nicole, i am a big fan of GC, and if she makes joel madden happy then i wish them all the happiness the world can give them.

159. I don't know why everyone is so down on Nicole, she's a lot more down to earth than Britney, or self absorbed like Paris. She's at a great age to start a family, and it will probably be one of the best things for her. I think it will be Lionels (and his ex-wife Brenda, Nicoles mom) first grandchild, since I believe his other children from his second marriage are much younger than Nicole. He has always been supportive to her, and the baby will have a loving family. I am happy for her, and I bet she will surprize everyone by being a great mom. I wish her all the best!

161. I think Nicole's getting pregnant was a good thing for her and it is the wake up call she needed to get off the drugs and she will be a good mom. She has the support of Joel and he will also be a good dad. Just because somebody did drugs or drank in their past does not mean they cannot straighten up and become good parents. It has happened to many of us. I used to smoke ciggerettes and when my son was in third grade and learning the dare program they teach in his school, he told me how bad they were and kept bugging me to quit. I told him I would try to quit, I didn't promise him, I just would try. I wore those patches for two weeks and that was four years ago and I have not smoked once again in four years. Kid can have a life altering experience on you. I pray for Nicole. She seems like a good person to me who just had too much freedom from her parents and she can change. Good luck Nicole and Joel.
