Golden Gals Gone Wild

Ever pictured the gals from the "Golden Girls" dressed up in leather and whips -- or just plain naked? Of course you have. Live the fantasy -- with the new "Golden Gals Gone Wild" art show, set to open in Los Angeles on August 11.

After purchasing a Chris Zimmerman oil painting of Bea Arthur in full frontal view, Lenora Claire felt inspired to create a show where artists submitted their naughtiest versions of the "Girls." This is the most age-inappropriately sexy show since Dennis Franz bared it all on "NYPD Blue."

Allow ample time after eating, and check out the link.

47. GOLDEN GIRLS GONE WILD is supposed to be a fun, naughty take on the "characters" that were in a TV sitcom. The Golden Girls are NOT real people, people! The art show looks like it is going to be a hoot. Lots of great artists are lined up to show their stuff. For those who are offended, then just DON'T GO.

48. I love how all the nay-sayers think their defintion of "art" is the right one, which clearly goes against everything art is supposed to be. I'm sure everyone who is outraged by this art doesnt get the irony that the art actually DID provoke emotion in you, just because it was a negative one doesnt make it less of an art. If anything it makes it more.

Furthermore, see this "hot new" art movement commonly referred to as "Low Brow" and all the wonderful "new" artists who are a part of it (see: Mark Ryden, Jason Maloney, Luke Chueh...). Not all art is made for people to sit and stare at in quiet revelry. Some artists have something more to say, and sometimes they want to shout it.
Luckily, the rest of the world is not restrained by your facist definition of the word "art."

p.s. Lenora Claire is a beautiful, artistic woman and randomly bad mouthing her just to leave your mark on a story you dont care about is pretty much on par with the ignorance i would expect from someone who sits around watching clips of Paris Hilton on TMZ.

49. It is important to remember that this is ART for God's sake! And thank God for it in this faceless blinkered society. It seems anything original is met with disapproval and criticism nowadays. Like the beautiful lady behind this conception (and the painting), this is inspiring and refreshingly different and obviously a great compliment to the Golden Girls. Wake up everyone!

50. It sexist, if that is art then I guess its that too. I mean, they never do this to guys. How about some Odd Couple penises? Yeah right that would never happen. People think they are so daring and out there and they are BORING! How original is this? Exposed breasts of women who represent some sort of feminst iconagraphy, yeah I get the statement. I guees Maya Angelou and Gloria Stienem are next. I guess its time for 4th wave femimism since the ladies today are too stupid to want to be equal. Instead they want to be cool and hate women with their male freinds. You rebels you!

51. Dear Grrr,
Actually my next show is almost entirely male. You're welcome to email me Lenora@LenoraClaire.com if you have questions about my projects or the ideologies behind them. I'd hate for you to have to make another ill informed opinion on such a public forum.
Thanks,
Lenora

53. Actually, Betty White (who played Rose Nylund) did pose nude in her young days. Seems authentic to me. You can Google it. I love the Golden Girls -- a classic.

54. This is the most disturbing thing anyone could ever dream of to paint! Who in the world would want to see a 60 year old woman bearing it all? Or perhaps dressed up like a dominatrix? This is gross - this "artist" should be tested for ALL types of mental illness!

55. Does anyone know if Any of the actress's who are being portrayed actually posed for the art? Are they endorsing it? if So then it could be fun..... Also anyone who is on this post and is defending the art should pick there butts up off the couch... Go to the show and buy the art. Nothing speaks louder than money to show your support.

58. My wife and I are in our sixties and I think it would be wonderful to have a nude portrait done like that of me to give to my wife for our anniversary. Does this Zimmerman paint seniors exclusively or is this a one shot deal?

59. Hi Gilbert,
What an awesome comment! Chris Zimmerman is an amazing artist. If you email me at Lenora@LenoraClaire.com I'll send you his email.

60. A lot of people here don't seem to be getting the humor behind this whole thing. More's the pity! (And whoever said it way back when -- the 'chick' holding the painting is, indeed, certifiably hot.)
