PETA to Hasselbeck -- "Cluck You!"

Whoopi's long overdue employment announcement wasn't the only news on "The View" yesterday. Elisabeth Hasselbeck revealed the thigh slapping news that she has chopped off a chicken's head -- and PETA thinks that's just foul!

After using hand motions to describe how to accurately decapitate a chicken, grossing out the audience more than she usually does, polite talk then resumed. Now Lizzy's in the soup with PETA, and they had this nugget for the right wing chicken winger:


"PETA has two words for Hasselbeck, 'Cluck you!' Next to Barbara and Joy, who expressed compassion, Elisabeth sat there chirping about the joys of killing defenseless birds. Conservatives love animals too, and she ruffled a lot of feathers today. Now that Whoopi has joined the show, maybe it's time for Hasslebeck's head to go on the chopping block."

Reps for "The View" had no comment.

Nature is full of predatory animals and PETA is mortified at a chicken losing it's head? I wonder how butchers feel about this.

47. Good grief! Do you people have nothing better to do. Chicken are raised to be eaten and when the processing plant herds them into a room with a metal floor and electrocutes them- do you people think that is a pleasant death. DO YOU EAT CHICKEN? Get off her back. She was on Survivor. She was hungry. Sheesh!

49. You all are fine ones to talk. How do you think your chicken drums and breasts are made? Or your hamburger, Bigmacs or hot dogs? Fastfood joints made nearly 60 Billion last year if not more thanks to you. Your sausages are made with ground meat , spices and oh yeah, BLOOD. Your meat is well packaged for you in the superstores and you really don't have to think about which country the meat came from, how it was electrocuted to kill it and then gutted. Most kids in this country have never seen live chickens, cows, goats, camels, rabbits, ducks. I could go on. The reality is that most people in other countries kill their food the way she described which I think is more humane than twisting the neck which is another way that chickens are killed in some parts of the world. They do it because they don't have sophisticated ways of killing the animal and they need their food.

50. ....speaking for myself....I don't truly care that she had to kill and eat a chicken in order to survive on that stupid island......but I don't think anyone ever starved to death either (on any of the stupid islands). So let's see, hmmmm, did she really think she would starve if she didn't kill the bird. Me thinks not. It was the glee in which she shared this story with everyone. Kinda like when Rosie mentioned the fact that so many men and women lost their lives in the on-going war that EH supports and EH responded with "well, that is a shame." How warm and fuzzy!!! She is a hypocrite and very cold. brrrrrrrr
