Chavez Chills with Sean Penn

Rabble-rousing actor/Madonna ex Sean Penn is taking his show on the road -- with Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. The politically-charged star has been hanging with Venezuela's socialist leader during a tour of the Venezuelan countryside.

The Chavez-Penn love affair was sparked, said Chavez, because Penn is "anti-Bush." Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte have also had face time with the Venezuelan leader.

Said Penn of his visit: "I'm also here as a journalist and so I owe it to that medium to wait until I've digested, fact-checked and finished my journey here" before saying more. The "Mystic River" actor has also done reporting stints in Iran and Iraq.

16. Sean Penn is typical of the idealist leftist in Hollywood. They romanticize about the socialists left but ignore the brutality that these dictators bring forth. Sean Penn hates capitalism and the type of democracy that we practice here, the same capitalism and democracy that helped him become a star. The beauty of all of this is that Sean Penn is his own worst enemy and people are seeing him for what he is. He's a tool of dictators, just like Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte.

17. None of us lives in Venezuela and for what I hear President Chavez has been elected by the voters in several elections and unlike Bush, Chavez has genuinely won every time. Sure he doesn't like Bush and called him "the Devil" but I have the feeling many people would call Bush that and worse. I like Sean Penn and if he makes another good movie, I'll go see it. Americans seem to be very biased by the news they're fed by CNN and Fox. Remember, it was FoxNews who announced Bush had won the elections over Kerry and I think it's clear now that was all a big lie. It just seems to me quite extreme to call Penn a "traitor" for visiting Venezuela... I mean, George Bush is good friends with the Prince of Saudi Arabia and together they have money invested in the oil industry. Do I need to remind you all that Saudi Arabia is a craddle for terrorists and the core of Islam? Some people have a really narrow view of the world. lol.

18. Well said, #19!

Members of the Hollywood Left, such as Penn, are nothing but hypocrites. They've acquired their millions and their "celebrity" status (without which, noone will pay them ANY attention) because of American capitalism. Then they turn around to curse & bite the very hand that feeds them. If they love socialist dictatorships that much, they always have the option of donating their millions to charity or to the U. S. Treasury.

19. Chavez just wanted to meet the guy who played Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the only time Penn was remotely believable. You just have to love the way this clown wants OUR guns taken away, yet had to report his car stolen in Berkeley and tell the cops that he had TWO loaded handguns in it. The only thing I would have expected to find loaded around this jerk is his dwindling group of fans.

20. As venezuelan journalist is a shame to have a so called president that constantly offends other country's pres. and worst of all take advantage on the 80% poverty population in this country.
Does Mr. Penn knows that we have here in Venezuela between 150 and 200 homicides each week? (yep, you read well...from 150 to 200 each weekend)... It is like a non declared war...
My friends from US: I really sorry but Chavez doesn't represent what venezuelan people think of US citizens even your pres. You all are good people and a great country
Always keep the boost!!!

21. Just because Penn hates Bush, he shouldn't be going to another country with a leader like Chavez. Why doesn't he just go intereview the Tailban if he is a journilist. Isn't it great that he leaves in a country that he doesn't seem to like and do what he wants and not got punished for it and yet he goes to places where if he did what he does here (argue about the government leaders) he proably would be shot.

24. As Mr. Hand would say "Jeff...what are you on....DRUGS?"
Penn is just another idiot hollyWIERD produces. These so called actors,
are nothing but that. I've seen non scripted interviews, say when they come
out of a building and someone shoves a mic in their face, and asks them a
question that they never have rehearsed an answer, and it's like hearing a
5 year old talk. (My apologies to the 5 year old out there)

30. "real AMERICAN",

I'd say the real traitor is the guy hanging out with world leaders who HATE America and would destroy us all if given the chance. I don't agree with what is going on in this country today, but supporting our enemies is not in any way helping us change this administration.
