Robin Roberts' Surgery a Success

"Good Morning America" co-host Robin Roberts successfully underwent surgery to treat breast cancer yesterday, and the 46-year-old GMA gabber is reportedly already home from the hospital. This past Tuesday, Roberts announced on-air that she was diagnosed with the disease, and revealed that GMA film critic Joel Siegel's battle with cancer prompted her to get checked out.

Her revelation resulted in an outpouring of support -- and an increase in women seeking mammograms and breast exams.

A rep for "Good Morning America" said that while her surgery was successful, doctors don't yet know the long-term impact.

47. to #44 in many ways you're so right
only problem is-what if she didn't have any money or connections-or if she didn't even have a doctor like so many-some of us are more blessed than others

when it comes to things like cancer, bypass surgery etc. prompt treatment should be available for everyone, rich or poor.

wish I had a solution to offer our health care system on what/how to do it
but like everyone else, politicians included, sadly I don't

49. Robin, you have always been an inspiration to those that have watched you on GMA, you always have a positive attitude, and always stress how important health and family are to you. It goes without saying , that we all knew that you would deal with your surgery with nothing less than everything within you. I love Joel, and thank him for watching over you as you begin the next stage of treatment for the breat cancer. My Aunt is a breast cancer survivor, and I have several other persons dear to me that have beat the cancer. You will beat this, I'm sure, as you don't back down from a challenge. Good Luck and God Bless!

53. For all you HATEFUL, PREJUDICE, IGNORANT SOB's why are you checking up on Robin? You must really care how she is doing, otherwise why are you here reading about how well she is doing. I have always been a Robin fan and always will be. Robin you are so genuine. When you went home after Katrina to check up on your family and the severe damage, I cried right along with you and so did everyone else I know. I don't always get to watch all of your show on ABC but you are Good Morning America to me. Thank You and best of luck.

58. Many fund raisers for all kinds of cancers striking the mean and women of prominence have been the result of courageous admissions, on their part, of being stricken.
Lance Armstrong's fight against testicular cancer is one excellent example (attn: blowmemarhta). Support of all cancer fighting programs is worthy. Spend more time working for the good and less frittering away time on internet might be a good idea for ALL of us?

59. Robin...best wishes to you in your recovery. You are an inspiration to me both professionally and in how you handed this very private issue. You are a lady with a ton of class. Thank you for standing out as a woman of integrity and bravery.

60. Prayers for a speedy recovery and healing outcome. I underwent a masectomy on Tuesday, July 31 for DCIS - where there was a possibility of microinvasion...thank the LORD my sentinel node was clear and there were wide clean margins around the affected duct. I am so blessed and having gotten the lab report yesterday morning about the node being cancer-free, I feel like I was given a new life. Praise God!
Women everywhere - if you hesitate to have a mammogram because it "hurts,"
just know that breast cancer can hurt and kill - suck in your breath and get the pinch that can save inches to your chest and add years to your life!!!!
