Antonella's National Anthem?

Antonella Barba, the wannabeen "American Idol" with the racy pics, was recorded while "singing" the Star Spangled Banner at an event that seems to be a high school homecoming or junior high graduation -- which she then posted on her MySpace music page. Rollover Francis Scott Key!

Either nerves got to the winged songbird, or she wasn't sure which country's anthem she was singing -- because when Barba didn't quite know the words, like any pro, she just made 'em up! Genius!

Her mistakes were minor ... like changing "through the perilous fight" into "ooh the perilous fight," and "bombs bursting in air" to "bombs bursting in there." In where, gurl?! Every song should end on a good note -- although she might not have gotten that memo. Ant ends with "O'er the land of the free, IN the home of the brave!" Classic! Keep those hits coming!

33. This is a fabricated "scoop"! What she actually sings is "the bombs bursting in the air!" with the words "the" and "air" sort of slid together the way lots of words in pop music get combined. The oither so-called "flubs" seem to be similar vowel modifications consistent with the musical style she is using to deliver the Anthem. Listen again! She doesn't flub ANY of the lines, just croons them in a pleasing individualistic singing style! This "news story" is nothing but slander!

I agree...stand, hand over heart, remove hat and sing along. That's what we're suppose to do. Please can't someone sing the song like it was written, I'm tired of words like "see" and "glare" and "wave" sounding like they have fifteen syllables. One syllable people...it's not that hard.

38. She's ridiculous. I bet she learned the words to all the songs on AI. Sadly, lots of people who take the liberty and honor of singing The Star Spangled Banner screw it up. Here's a BIIIIIIIGGGGGGG tip for those who don't know the words to our National Anthem... LOOK UP THE WORDS. If you can't read, HAVE SOMEONE READ THEM TO YOU. You might even consider PRACTICING. You can always tell what's important to someone by the amount of time they put into it.

43. Plainly put, SHE SUCKS!!! I am a fan of A.I. and she should have never made it through those rediculous first auditions. WHO in their right mind would allow this tramp to butcher the National Anthem? I sing it (in my head) every time I hear it. I have to watch the 1 hour before the Nascar race begins to catch it and then I pray no one else tears it up. I sing only when I'm alone. Her 15 minutes have come and gone. Put her in the toilet.
P.S. American Idol fired Frenchie for way less than this chica did.

45. To #'s 10 & 11 (and everyone else of course) : I agree that an American should know all the words to their own anthem and sing/perform it with respect. However, I don't think changing the genre is disrespectful. We are free to express in this country how we please. Jazz, blues, rock, and rap are all very much a part of American culture and creativity is essential to the expression of the Individual--an important element of the American Dream!!! As long as it is performed with respect, dignity, and a great love for America it is patriotic. Also, I'm glad that today's youth (me included) have evolved into a people of amazing creativity. We are a gifted people. STOP DISRESPECTING OUR YOUTH!!!!
