Antonella's National Anthem?

Antonella BarbaAntonella Barba, the wannabeen "American Idol" with the racy pics, was recorded while "singing" the Star Spangled Banner at an event that seems to be a high school homecoming or junior high graduation -- which she then posted on her MySpace music page. Rollover Francis Scott Key!

Either nerves got to the winged songbird, or she wasn't sure which country's anthem she was singing -- because when Barba didn't quite know the words, like any pro, she just made 'em up! Genius!

Her mistakes were minor ... like changing "through the perilous fight" into "ooh the perilous fight," and "bombs bursting in air" to "bombs bursting in there." In where, gurl?! Every song should end on a good note -- although she might not have gotten that memo. Ant ends with "O'er the land of the free, IN the home of the brave!" Classic! Keep those hits coming!

I agree...stand, hand over heart, remove hat and sing along. That's what we're suppose to do. Please can't someone sing the song like it was written, I'm tired of words like "see" and "glare" and "wave" sounding like they have fifteen syllables. One syllable people...it's not that hard.

32. Jesus people, Yes, she may be good looking, but why would anyone want her to sing? She couldn't remember the words to "Itsy Bitsy Spider" or "Mary Had A Little Lamb".

33. Good Gravy! People should not sing songs they do not know the words to. As an example, Jessica Simpson singing one of Dolly Pardon's songs to Ms. Pardon and then forgetting the words. Don't singers practice singing the songs so they know where the band is playing on the song? I can't believe the youth of today. Did they all fall out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down?

35. She's not the only "Idol" who flubbed the words to our National Anthem. At a grand opening of a store locally, an Arizona "Idol" winner with the last name of Bonds sang the song and in three places replaced the orginial words with ones that rhymed because she did not know the exact words. For me, I know all FOUR VERSES of the Star Spangled Banner and am proud to say it! I think if anyone is singing this song, for goodness sake, use the appropriately written words!!

36. come on guys, it was probably a case of nerves! That's a really long & hard song to sing. Maybe now she'll learn the words & that won't happen again. Maybe we should think about teaching it more in school! The fact is, we don't teach the kids these things like when I was in school. We said the pledge, we prayed every morning before we started our first class at school. We sang the national anthem before every school function, pep rallys, football games, any sporting event or school program that we had. That doesn't happen now.

40. This is a fabricated "scoop"! What she actually sings is "the bombs bursting in the air!" with the words "the" and "air" sort of slid together the way lots of words in pop music get combined. The oither so-called "flubs" seem to be similar vowel modifications consistent with the musical style she is using to deliver the Anthem. Listen again! She doesn't flub ANY of the lines, just croons them in a pleasing individualistic singing style! This "news story" is nothing but slander!

I THINK IT'S EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL OF HER NOT TO APOLOGIZE FOR BUTCHERING AN AMERICAN SONG SHE SHOULD KNOW, AND IF SHE DOESNT KNOW IT, SHE SHOULD HAVE PRACTICED BEFORE SHE ATTEMPTED TO SING A SONG THAT IS A MILE STONE IN AMERICA,IT'S A GOOD THING SHE HAS LOOKS TO FALL BACK ON, BECAUSE SHE CERTAINLY DOESNT HAVE TALENT, MAYBE PLAYBOY WILL TAKE HER WHO KNOWS?
