Antonella's National Anthem?

Antonella Barba, the wannabeen "American Idol" with the racy pics, was recorded while "singing" the Star Spangled Banner at an event that seems to be a high school homecoming or junior high graduation -- which she then posted on her MySpace music page. Rollover Francis Scott Key!

Either nerves got to the winged songbird, or she wasn't sure which country's anthem she was singing -- because when Barba didn't quite know the words, like any pro, she just made 'em up! Genius!

Her mistakes were minor ... like changing "through the perilous fight" into "ooh the perilous fight," and "bombs bursting in air" to "bombs bursting in there." In where, gurl?! Every song should end on a good note -- although she might not have gotten that memo. Ant ends with "O'er the land of the free, IN the home of the brave!" Classic! Keep those hits coming!

47. Plu-eeeze!!!! Whitney Houston's version of the Anthem is a perfect rendition??? GET REAL!!!! First of all, she recorded it in the studio - didn't have the guts to sing it live and show us she could deal with a 5 second delay from mic to field position (I know this cuz I've sung the anthem in that stadium several times and know what I'm talking about!!). What happens is you can't listen to yourself sing or you'll lose your place in the song - its like singing a round with yourself. ) Secondly, she was so busy running up and down scales and in and out of modalities that the melody was completely lost!! Leave the song alone - sing it as written and let the words do what Francis Scott Key intended them to.... honor a country that didn't give up!

48. it's amazing at far looks will get you,, i mean gosh,, she made it as far as she did on American Idol based on her looks,, certainly not her singing,,, and this was the producers of the show,,, they hand picked this girl for ratings and to have that one "hot" girl on the show for the year,,
well,, little did that know,, Sanjaya would be cuter than her,, hehehehee

51. I work in a minor league ballpark and most of the teens that sing the national anthem change the words slightly to words that sound the same as what they're SUPPOSED to sing. (Like OR the land of the free, instead of FOR).

It's sad that this generation doesn't know these songs.

53. Normal (?) people have been mangling The SSB for years, not just the celebs (?), Way back when they let a "soul singer" do the national anthem at some sporting event most people either had no idea what was being sung, or wanted the "singer" imprisoned for treason. At least she LOOKS good!!!!!!
