Antonella's National Anthem?

Antonella Barba, the wannabeen "American Idol" with the racy pics, was recorded while "singing" the Star Spangled Banner at an event that seems to be a high school homecoming or junior high graduation -- which she then posted on her MySpace music page. Rollover Francis Scott Key!

Either nerves got to the winged songbird, or she wasn't sure which country's anthem she was singing -- because when Barba didn't quite know the words, like any pro, she just made 'em up! Genius!

Her mistakes were minor ... like changing "through the perilous fight" into "ooh the perilous fight," and "bombs bursting in air" to "bombs bursting in there." In where, gurl?! Every song should end on a good note -- although she might not have gotten that memo. Ant ends with "O'er the land of the free, IN the home of the brave!" Classic! Keep those hits coming!

61. Oh, please. Maybe she's a victim of bad diction, but it's not really fair to say she's saying the wrong words. Give SOMEONE a break here, Jeez. "ooh" and "through" and "in air" and "in there".. it's not possible you have a HEARING problem, rather than she have a memory problem. I'm sure she's so glad to have the press.

62. This is yet another example of why the National Anthem should not be played before a sporting event or other such gatherings. It cheapens the song....

63. AS AN AMERICAN, SHE SHOULD KNOW ALL OF THE WORDS, BUT LETS BE REAL--IF YOU OR I HAD TO SING THIS IN FRONT OF A LARGE CROWD OF PEOPLE, IT WOULD BE VERY EASY TO GET DISTRACTED AND/OR NERVOUS!!! AT LEAST SHE HAS A GOOD VOICE WHICH IS MORE THAN I CAN SAY FOR MYSELF, AND WHO AMONG US LIKES TO EVEN SPEAK IN FRONT OF A CROWD!!!

68. Any "star" who takes on the responsibility of singing the National Anthem and screws it up.....should be immediately arrested, tried for treason, and shot in public for being so stupid. Then deport them to a country of our choosing for 5 years. See how they like living in the US then and having the freedoms they abuse.
It should be a basic principle of every school, for every child, to teach them the National Anthem properly. If we teach them to read, maybe we need to give these idiot stars a cheat sheet.
Shoot them and move on.

73. To Maple leaf forever: our national anthem reflects the fact that we FOUGHT for our freedom. What did your country do?

I WILL NEVER EVER LEARN MY NATIONAL ANTHEM IN SPANISH. IF THEY WANT TO COME HERE, DAMN IT LEARN THE FRIGGING LANGUAGE OR GO BACK.

It's also disgusting that no one waits for the anthem to end before cheering & whooping & hollering.

And rj, you are so right. What should be done is have any of the US military bands play it & make a recording of it.

Now what does that make you? Your spelling of "American" was "Amercian" - twice.
