Antonella's National Anthem?

Antonella BarbaAntonella Barba, the wannabeen "American Idol" with the racy pics, was recorded while "singing" the Star Spangled Banner at an event that seems to be a high school homecoming or junior high graduation -- which she then posted on her MySpace music page. Rollover Francis Scott Key!

Either nerves got to the winged songbird, or she wasn't sure which country's anthem she was singing -- because when Barba didn't quite know the words, like any pro, she just made 'em up! Genius!

Her mistakes were minor ... like changing "through the perilous fight" into "ooh the perilous fight," and "bombs bursting in air" to "bombs bursting in there." In where, gurl?! Every song should end on a good note -- although she might not have gotten that memo. Ant ends with "O'er the land of the free, IN the home of the brave!" Classic! Keep those hits coming!

76. Okay...even some of the best singers have screwed up at times, but we all know this girl isn't going anywhere with her career. Maybe she CAN sing better than you and me, but she's gotta stop saying "I was almost the next american idol". Listen honey, you live in America...know the words to our national anthem before you try to impress a bunch of 12yr olds at their little dance!

77. I'm not against someone putting their own spin on the National Anthem, so long as the melody is recongnizable. But forgetting the words (or not knowing them in the first place) is inexcusable. It should be something all kids should learn in school. That having been said, does anyone know there are three stanzas to our National Anthem? We only know the first, which is a bunch of questions. All the answers appear in the other two stanzas. Which is one reason why I feel we should have another song as our National Anthem. "God Bless America" or "America the Beautiful"? No, because God is in them. And heaven knows we can't have God in our National Anthem (tongue in cheek here, by the way). The second reason: few people can really sing it well with such a wide range. It's a poorly composed melody.

79. Whenever I see the name Antonella Barba, I think of her blase attitude the night she and two friends teamed up with another young contestant and while one practiced her harmony, two went to bed, and....Antonella went to the "guys" floor and flirted which I watched happen and later on the younger of the group of four, complained about Barba not abiding by the rules and got really dissed by Barba. What goes around, comes around, so...I'm not surprised that Barba got ditched by American Idol.

81. Jesus people, Yes, she may be good looking, but why would anyone want her to sing? She couldn't remember the words to "Itsy Bitsy Spider" or "Mary Had A Little Lamb".

82. #77, Bucky!

Looks to me like it could have been a typo as opposed to a spelling error. Cut #15 some slack. Afterall, no one is prefect.

84. what do people expect anyway? they don't teach it in school anymore , schools don't require you to learn it. they don't teach reading and writing so most high scool graduates can barely spell and write there own name. they probably passed her just so she wouldn't stuck in high school for the rest of her life.
