Lily Allen Denied by America

In an effort to crack down on foreign workers taking jobs from good, hard-working Americans, U.S. authorities have stripped Brit pop star Lily Allen of her work visa and put her upcoming American tour in jeopardy, reports the Daily Mail. If need be, Kelly Clarkson is available on short notice.

Allen was reportedly detained on Sunday by Los Angeles Customs officers as she arrived for the MTV Video Music Awards nominations and to shoot a video with Kanye West. According to the British paper, Lily was arrested and subsequently "cautioned" in London last March for assaulting a photographer, thus her problem here in the states. Wanker!

"Lily doesn't know why it happened, she is quite shocked," her spokesperson told the Daily Mail. "She's due back in the UK at the end of the week to continue work on her second album, and we're sure all this will be sorted out in time for her American tour."

Lily is supposed start her U.S. tour in San Diego on September 6.

I'm glad she was stripped of a work visa-- after all, this is the girl who said the last time she was here that touring in the US "bored" her (she cut her tour short & cancelled dates, if I recall correctly, for that stated reason-- more likely it was because her ticket sales were poor). She's made her name in the UK largely off her father Keith (who's a big celebrity over there), her "music" is Britpop bubblegum that nobody will remember in three years, and she's a spoilt, nasty little piece of work who obviously took performing in the US for granted until DHS yanked a knot in her. I'm no fan of DHS, but I'm even less a fan of Ms. Allen. She ought to be glad she was even allowed into the US-- for anyone who isn't a citizen, working here isn't a right, it's a privilege, so she should learn some manners & come back with an adjusted attitude.

25. I never even heard of her until just now. i listened to a little of her music and it's really terrible. From what I've read, it sounds like she's just a drunk little girl who likes to rant and bash everyone. I couldn't care less if they let her in, I doubt there would be more than 20 people at each show anyways.
