Heidi Montag's $2890.00 ring"The Hills" attention-whore-in-chief Heidi Montag got a serious rock from her, uh, beloved fiancee, Spencer Pratt. But it looks like the bling is about as "real" as all the bitchfighty drama on the MTV series.

As you may have seen, not-so-big-spender Pratt asks to borrow pal Brody Jenner's credit card to buy the engagement ring -- slow week with no tabloid photos to sell! Princess Heidi's engagement ring was purchased from the Ice Accessory store at a mall in Brentwood. Spencer ultimately picked out what looked like a pink diamond surrounded by diamonds, and even crowed that J. Lo and Kobe's wife Vanessa had identical ice, and that Heidi would need "a GPS device" for the ring in case she lost it.

One problem: Heidi's ring is a big fat FAKE! Sources tell TMZ that the pink diamond is really a lavender, lemon amethyst! The ring is surrounded by diamonds and the ring retails for $2,890! Not exactly chump change, but definitely a little low-rent for Jenny's block -- or ring finger.

151. HA!HA! They both try to come off as such high rollers and look at them. I'm a mom from the midwest and my wedding ring was 4x the price of hers. Heidi you need Lauren--Lauren doesn't doesn't need you. She would never settle for some fake ring and actually wear it and show people. She has more class than that. She might have been dating a drunk like Jason, but I'm sure he would have bought her the real thing because he knows she wouldn't settle for anything less. Looks like you better start kissing up and getting back in her good graces. FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a question, are all of these people supposed to be rich or what, they hardly ever show any of the parents, or say what they do for a living, and I know some of them have jobs, but they don't make that much to live in the places that they do, the parents must pay for it all, including the cars. I think Spencer guilted Heidi into moving with him, and just supposedly "proposed" to her because that's what she wanted, he want her all to himself, from her friends and family. In the upcoming episode when he meets Heidi's parents, he says that Lauren wanted Heidi all to herself, but from what I have seen, he wants the same thing, and he can't offer her anything but misery, does he even have a job? He's an ugly as hell, she can do much better

153. Spencer is a creepy gay looking guy, and Heidi is plain looking. Neither of them have done anything that affords them a ring 'like J Lo's' and Spencer just looks ridiculous making that comment. I hope they both lose their 'happiness' after the way they acted toward LC.

155. Spencer is a total idiot.Judging from the looks Heidi's parents were giving..they definitely do NOT like him! He is definitely a parasite that lives off of other people. Hearing him "break up" with Brody was just too hilarious. Brody's talking to Spencer's ENEMY!! (LC). He is so immature and REALLY strange! HEIDI run for "the Hill's" as far away as you can from this joker! His big ado re: THE RING is what started all of this talk about how fake the ring is. It's real all right..a real amethyst..and a cheap one at that. It's much too light to be African (the priciest of the quartzes). Amethysts are one of the most affordable stones in the world..and the lighter, the CHEAPER! Where are Spencer's parent by the way...did they disown him?? LOL

157. What's the big deal? Its a beautiful ring and a beautiful stone in its own right - why does an engagement ring HAVE to be a diamond? Especially when there are more beautiful, colorful options out there - how about the under-rated Morganite? Or the less expensive (yet still very durable) Moissenite? Just because Spencer is an absolute douche, doesn’t mean you gotta knock a great piece of jewelry – I’d sport it any day 

My advice, keep the ring and lose the guy!!!

159. the sex tape is reportedly of Jason and Lauren, and its funny how when he bought the ring he went into one store and looked at about 2 rings and he also asked for the "high end" rings

161. She's young, she's happy..and she loves him and the ring...They'll both get over it eventually...so why rain on their parade? Big deal if he's a jerk...she'll find out all too soon and he'll be a good learning lesson for her future..trust me. And I think the ring is beautiful: $3000 or $700...whatever..it's a lovely stone(s) & setting.
I like Heidi and I love Lauren...I'm so sorry Spencer came between them but the best way to learn life's lessons is to make mistakes and hold the lesson close to your heart when it's all said and done.

162. First off. I used to work at Ice Accessories. The ring is not fake. It's retail value is
over the amount stated. Heidi's ring is by a designer called Jude Frances, sold at other fine retailers like Neiman Marcus. Ice Accessories is an awesome store that sells a little bit of everything.. including fine jewelry.. and trendy costume jewelry.. stop hating on this store because you hate Spencer.

I agree that hating on the store doesn't make sense, but neither does their website not working. All this free publicity and the site can't be surfed. You might want to call someone. As for the ring, it is a pretty ring, I like semi-precious stones when worn as cotume jewelry. NOT as an engagement ring. tacky. The bad was...it was a creepy thing to do to hype it up as more than it is, but there ya go, Spencer is what Spencer is.
