Dog Free in Mexico -- Leashed in USA!

Just when Duane "Dog" Chapman thought his legal nightmare was over, a US judge threw a major wrench into his freedom plans.
Duane Dog Chapman
As TMZ first reported last week, a Mexican trial judge threw out all charges against Dog and his associates. But TMZ has learned that the US Office of International Affairs, despite an 11-month interim since Chapman's arrest, has issued an order not to release the bond because they need "more time" to work on the case. The US Magistrate judge also told the Chapmans they were out of luck -- the judge is going on vacation through October -- and won't be able to deal with the matter until then. See ya in the fall, Dog!

Dog and wife Beth told TMZ that they were "devastated." "We love this country," they said, "and are proud to be Americans, so this is absolutely devastating that we can now roam free in Mexico, but not in our own country."

Free the Dog!

61. This is so incredibly unfair. It sickens me! SO Dog is still being punished for getting a sicko off the streets?

62. Hey, 56--cowardly much? NONE of Dog's sons say he is a drug addict. And you don't have to like Beth. It is NOT a prerequisite to getting fair treatment for Dog Chapman.

63. "56. This guy has too many people saying he is a drug addict, including one of his own sons. And his wife is an arrogant piece of garbage. Send him down the river.

You do realize this information came from the National Enquirer right? I'm not sure who "too many people" are but I'm guessing all of them came from the same article you read and some of them may be ex-wives that have an ax to grind with Dog. Some of these ex-wives are the same women that intentionally kept Dog's sons away from him early in their lives only to loose custody to Dog later on.

68. Could it be that the US is doing the bidding of the Mexican government much as it did by prosecuting the US Border Guards for going after illegals who are criiminals and drug dealers?
US citizens are getting sick of Mexico directing US policy. So maybe the Administration decided to provide cover to Mexico by assuring that government that they could drop charges and the US would pick up prosecution.

70. The judge is going on vacation until October?! Give me a break! Can you imagine this insensative, unethical just bad behavior being allowed anywhere but the US Judicial System!? Guess there is some merit to the phrase "No good deed goes unpunished."

71. Mapel leaf, Enjoy your freedom while it lasts. Don't be too hard on your southern neighbors. You may just need a friend when the Russians plant their flag in Ottowa and claim it as a "natural extension of Russia".

72. This too will pass. Sounds to me like the yank-er is making sure his butt is covered before he releases the yank-ee. All the politics in the world cannot make it right to deprive this American hero of his freedom in any way, shape, or form.

73. I don't understand this at all. If he is an American citizen and he is not in custody in Mexico how can he possibly not be allowed back into the U.S. One of the most fundamental benefits of citizenship is that you have a right of access into your country.

Other possible headlines:

Dog has been neutered.
Dog not linked to Michael Vick.
Mexico throws Dog a bone.
Dog a chihuahua in Mexico.

75. #72....what I meant was, there are so many complaints regarding Dog & his wife but I would rather have their show around and get more publicity from this, then having a serial rapist on the loose. If having a psychotic rapist behind bars is the price I have to pay to have Dog & his wife on television, than so be it. I thank them for doing it no matter what their motiviation was. And I find it sickening that he should even be questioned by the Mexican government considering their citizens come here, break the law and then run back to Mexico for protection since both the Mexican government and police do not try to find them to send them back for punishment.
