38. Referring to this man as a meter maid is either ignorant or it is intended to belittle him. I am sure it is intended to belittle him though I don't know why the TMZ journalist would do that. Everyone knows that a "meter maid" is a gender-specific female job title and that the job title that is not gender-specific is parking enforcement officer. I think civil servants are due civilized respect!

And it seems to me that what the "parking enforcement officer" said was just meant to be a humorous remark to brush off the guy who is complaining about getting the ticket. I think it is sad that TMZ would use the pressure of media power to get this 19-years-old civil servant fired for making a tacky remark that was meant to be a humorous brush off. One need not have much of an imagination to visualize what parking enforcement officers endure on the job, enduring complaints, swearing, threats and even assaults from irate people whose vehicle was ticketed or impounded. I don't suppose it is an easy job as it is, and of all the humiliations and dangers of the job an assault from the media for making a tacky remark to brush off a complaining parking violator should not be one of them.

If I could change the line heading this story, it would read "TMZ gets 19-years-old civil servant fired for making a tacky remark." That is what the real story here is about.
