Brad -- We Made Katrina, Now Let's Fix It

A worked-up Brad Pitt told the "Today" show's Ann Curry on Wednesday that -- despite what you might think -- Hurricane Katrina was a man-made disaster, and that it's incumbent upon him (and everyone else) to make it right.

The actor/envirovangelist chatted animatedly with Curry about progress he and Global Green have made in the last year, but was clearly emotional when talking about a 60-year-old man he met -- whose life had been turned upside down by Katrina. "I did everything right. I got a job," Pitt said he was told. "I bought a home. I raised my kids in that home. We're all split apart and we've been wiped out. What do I do?"

Pitt called the state of affairs "unacceptable."

16. Brad Pitt is repeating Bush's words. You will help fix New Orleans. 99% of the levees created by USACE did not crumble, but we must and will do better. Step 1: dissolve power of New Orleans politicians and ban felons from the city.

17. I applaud Brad's charitable giving, and don't question it in the least. But, OMG! Another celebutard's ignorance is showing! Brad, you are the official winner of Celebutard JeopRETARDy. Louisianna was granted and given funds NUMEROUS times to fix their dangerously eroded levies. Their corrupt local and state government officials chose not to spend that money for its intended purpose. Point the finger at Louisianna's gov. officials if you STILL feel the need to lay blame on someone.

As far as US causing the hurricane?? Clearly you were dropped on your head as an infant and are still suffering from severe brain damage. :o( You're still a hottie though!!

18. "We created the, uh, the uhhhh hurricane. Now we gotta build uhh, uhhh a house". Hey Babes, Chocolate City thanks you! Maybe if you two serial cheaters, who wouldn't know a marriage vow if it hits ya in the kisser, would stop flying all over the freakin' world then maybe, just maybe, I could take you seriously. I hear that sailboats travel because of the wind. That's a green way to travel. You and flubber lips Angie can provide all the hot air that's needed to sail the boat. Just talk about yourselves, that'll keep ya movin'!

19. Brad Pitt is correct in what he has stated. The levees are a federal project that the Corps of Engineers have recommended for years to be upgraded and fixed but the Federal Government has never done anything about the recommendations. Yes, the hurricane itself caused damage but the breaking of the levees was the primary causative for lives lost and massive flooding and destruction. I do agree with the writer saying Mississippi was in worse shape than Lousiana. I do not understand why authorities in Mississippi aren't lobbying Washington on a constant basis, as well as, making television appearances daily. My son went on two Mission Trips to Bay St. Louis, and residents told him that Fema has never arrived there, nor has any help arrived other than various social organizations of churches. Mississippi had the brunt of the wind from Katrina, while Lousiana had some wind but the heavy rain and poor condition caused the levees to break. Therefore, New Orleans flooding is/was a man made problem, whereas, Mississippi's damage was natural.

20. I live in Louisiana and it has been hell in this state after Katrina. Brad is just tring to get help for the people who need it and I thank him for it because the government is not doing much and you can forget the insurance companies. Just let him speak and leave it alone.

21. Mr. Pitt. You are a typical liberal. You think everything is the responsibility of government. If there is a problem, the government is supposed to fix it. WRONG. What makes America great is the fact the we have hard-working intelligent people who figure out ways to make our lives better with products and services they offer. It is called Capitalism. Let the people solve the problems, not the government.

23. Brad' s100% right!!! Unless you yourself have been down there, you cannot know the true devastation and unless you are properly informed you will never know that it's the engineers fault for the flooding not the storm of Katrina. The people of Louisiana are living as if they are in a third world country. This could happen to any of us. DO YOU HAVE A DAM near your town??? What happens if it goes. DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN A KATRINIA TRAILER WITH YOUR CHILDREN FULL OF FORMALDEHYDE. I DIDN"T THINK SO. Thank you guys for what your doing for the people of Louisiana.

25. please some of you people on this forum act like brad and angie are adam and eve. and all they are is two people adopting kids and having kids, and living a debauched life. so stop praising them for doing a little humanitarian work, that the salvation army and red cross do almost every day.
