Poll results released this week say that one in four US adults did not read a single book in the last year.

33. Why does TMZ have a picture of "smokin' hot" Paris included in this???? She's actually alot smarter and well read than a lot of people give her credit for. 38. Is this a publicity photo for a remake of "Up In Smoke?" (Sorry Cheech) Anyway regarding the dumbing of America(there was a book by this title many years ago). Anyone who is "old" like me is jarred by the bad English of newscasters or newsreaders on TV. The mistakes just jar my brain. I am fortunate to have grown up in a time when reading was a wonderful thing, something you enjoyed for the sheer pleasure of the story, the craft of the author and something that was good, noble, exciting, etc. I am looking forward to retirement in less than 3 years. I will be able to stay away from the coarse, rude, angry trashy world we live in be selecting where I will spend time and with whom and just shut my door and read a good book when I've dealt with aggressive drivers and their road rage, ads for Oprah and Dr. Phil, news reports about yet another child sex ring. Give me a good book any day.

39. By all accounts, these three "celebrities" come from disfunctional and self-destructive family systems. The money these ladies have made or inherited will only lead them to the grave faster. They will age rapidly, then begin paying a plastic surgeon to carve up their faces, insert bags of liquid to puff up their boobs, and burn their face skin to hide the wrinkles and sagging eyes which come from drugs, booze and life in the fast lane. And paps, agents, producers will all make money as these girls slowly commit suicide. It's a very sad story.
