Celebrity Justice
Lindsay Cops Plea! -- She'll Do Time

Lindsay Lohan will not stand trial for DUI -- but she'll do a teeny tiny amount of jail time.

She just struck a deal by pleading no contest to two counts of DUI (driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher). By law, Lohan becomes a second offender (with two DUIs) and must serve a minimum of four days in jail. But the judge cut that in half by ordering her to perform 10 days of community service in lieu of two of the days. He also gave Lindsay one day credit for time served when she was busted. That means she gets a grand total of one day in jail.

Lohan also pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of a controlled substance (two separate incidents) -- both misdemeanors. She also pleaded no contest to reckless driving.

The judge said Lohan will serve 36 months probation and attend an alcohol education program for 18 months.

As to the controlled substance plea, Lohan was ordered not to use controlled substances. She's also required to enroll in a drug program. She's also required to stay for an unspecified amount of time at the Utah facility where she's currently in rehab.

Lohan was also ordered "not to associate with people with controlled substances."

On January 18, Lohan must show she's successfully completed rehab.

77. One day in jail, you have got to be kidding. First, she avoids felony convictions, now reduced jail time. Man, someone paid big bucks to get this case through the justice system. Next time a poor, person of color is busted for two DUIs and cocaine possession, they better get this type of sweet deal. Just goes to show if your rich and white you can get away with anything. Where is the justice? As for Lindsay Lohan going on record that she is sorry and an addict, PLEASE, this is called damage control, something her reps advised her to do in hopes that the public will still watch her movies or listen to her music.

78. I am glad L.A. has enlightened judges such as the one who sentenced Lindsay Lohan.

There are thousands and thousands of young people in this country who have addiction problems and who will run into trouble with the law. Should we simply throw them all in jail? Should our objective be only to punish them, to hang felonies on them that will follow them for the rest of their lives? Or should we try to help them, and give them a chance to reclaim their lives?

I think our goal should be to help them. I think our jails should contain felons, not young people with addiction problems. I say this not only about Ms. Lohan, but about any young person who has the misfortune to become an addict.

My best wishes to Ms. Lohan and to all people who are working to overcome addictions. It's a tough road, but you can do it. I'm rooting for all of you.

79. Does she get to keep her drivers license? She got off much easier than ordinary people would have, but she cannot legally drive for awhile, can she? Funny, I havent heard any mention of that even though we are talking about 2 dui charges.

80. What an absolute joke. Multiple drunk driving offenses, possession of hard narcotics, kidnapping people, stealing their car to hunt down someone in a car, chicanery (it's should be against the law) and she gets 1 day?!?!

Citizens of LA, when this DA is back up for re-election, vote against them. Enough of this going soft on people simply for being famous garbage.

81. Unbelievable.

I don't blame the girl for pleading guilty. It's those idiot California Judges that are to blame for some of the crap that goes on in Hollywood.

How did those stupid bastards get in office. Surely all the people in California do not believe in the California legal system. If you got money or fame baby, you can get away with MURDER in California.

82. I am quite certian we will look back on this day and time in a few years and realize that this was a missed opportunity for the "justice system" to help her TRULY take responsibility for her behavior. At the time we're looking back, it will probably be some sort of tragedy. Didn't we learn anything from the Anna Nicole news?

83. But will her license be suspended? Since she was under 21 during her first arrest, and having ANY blood alcohol level as a minor in the state of California (.08 only applies to those of LEGAL drinking age) calls for an loss of license for an entire year instantly, did she manage to get around that too?

84. WHAT A JOKE !!! Is anyone really surprised?? You got money - you get a different set of rules. Its called "payoff". How can anyone respect the so-called law anymore???? It is a farce !

85. How do we expect these spoiled people to change. They get a slap on the wrist and they will be back out in the very near future abusing subtances again, possibly driving while intoxicated. What happens if they kill someone next time! I am sick and tired of these "celebs" getting away with crimes that others are convicted for....please it would just take one "celeb" to get and actual charge and imprisonment for others to realize that they are playing russian roulette. If it was a "normal" person in the "real" world, we would be put away, with an actual record and real life consequeces....it just makes me sick!!!!

86. This is stupid one day in jail..... if a random person (not famous) would have done the same thing as Lohan that person would have been charged with a felony and have to go to prison. Hopefully she sees how lucky she is an turns her life around. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!

87. i am an addicted person. whether it is alcohol or drugs, it is hard to kick. my advice for lindsay is to kick mom and dad out; they are living their life through you. find a new group of friends. i have a wonderful husband who has helped me with my addictions and even though it is no cake walk it's better than the six foot under alternative that you will end up in. keep your chin up and get rid of the "hanger ons"

88. That is not fair. If it was an regular person we'd be in jail longer than a murderer. I'm so sick of famous people getting off the hook. They either get paid or sex.....

89. I'm happy for her. She deserves a break. She's talented and beautiful, but she has a problem she's trying to fix. If she were bleck, the black community would still be screaming outrage at any time in jail, saying that it's a conspiracy and that she should go scott free.
