Sheriff: Richie Was "Cooperative" -- DUH!

TMZ has received a statement from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department regarding the 82-minute incarceration of Nicole Richie:

On August 23 2007, at 3:15 PM Miss Nicole Camille Richie reported to CRDF and surrendered herself following a July 27 arrest, she was sentenced to serve 96 hours in County Jail. Miss Richie was accompanied by her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley and her boyfriend Joel Madden. Miss Richie was booked and processed into the jail system. Miss Richie was cooperative during the process. Based on her sentence and federal court guidelines, Miss Richie was released at 4:37 PM today.

31. Makes you wonder if she even saw the inside of a cell. I wish I could be a celeb......they get money and get away with doing anything and everything they want!! What fine examples they are for today's young people!!

34. #31 You are so right in what you said. My guess is that given what happened today Paris has a real case for suing California for discrimination. That would be in federal court, hopefully away from what is obviously a flawed system fair to no one and a real friend of money and fame.

My real problem with her situation is that there appears to be no peer review by other judges and the press certanly has failed her and justice. Notice the lack of reporting on this judge and prosecutor, wonder what price is being paid for the silence of the LA times. News of a corrupt judge and prosecutor is news and does sell papers so draw your own conclusions.

A judge who puts on the disgusting act hers did and faces no review for his actions will just wait until he can satisify his perverted ideas of who to hurt the next time.

The real disgrace is that her prosecutor stole the price of fixing the vehicle his wife damaged and has not had to answer to anyone. When caught he only had to pay back what he stole. I believe that he was finked on by his own staff and that an analysis of the computer records would show who else had found out his wife was driving for months without a license and with an open warrant. Begs the question; who did he pay off with favors to keep this quiet.

The last 24 hours has again disgraced California before the entire country.

Sheriff Baca seems to be the only honest person in the whole sordid mess, and he also has a case against those who challenged his decisions.

40. Sheriff Lee Baca is a bought and paid for elected offical that has made the justice system in Los Angeles a National joke & disgrace. He will get reelected because he keeps the big money happy. If you have a buck in LA you never have to worry about the justice system no matter what laws you break.

44. hey #25 you're wrong. It's not the california justice system. A friend of mine have more penalties after a single dui than nicole or lindsay got after two! This is a ripoff for every non-celebrity in the state. You are just a shill for Nicole that's obvious.
