Brit's Dog Injured; SPCA Investigates

TMZ has learned that officials from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were at Britney's house today to investigate why her dog was wearing a cast. We're country y'all!

Madeline Bernstein, President of SPCA - L.A., told TMZ tonight, "We have received various sources of complaints throughout the day. Some said that Britney's Yorkie dog was injured and had a cast on, and some said the dog had a broken leg and was not treated.

After the calls started pouring in, we did go to Britney's house today [on Mulholland Drive] but were just able to leave a note with the housekeeper. The matter is not if the dog had an accident, but if the dog is getting proper care."

Madeline also told us they haven't heard back from Miss Spears. "Britney is out of town," Bernstein tells us, "but we hope to have an answer soon and get the matter resolved pretty quickly."

271. Hello...She can't even care for her children! Is it no wonder that a poor innocent animal cannot be in her care without injury? She needs to get her act together already. I'm so sick of hearing about this woman/child.

272. I personally think we should take Brit.. and Lindsey Lohan... and all the other spoiled rotten lil starlets... and send them to Louisianna to assist with the aftermath of Katrina! These girls are clueless about the world around them. They think suffering is having a broken nail.. or Heaven Forbid... having to reschedule a spa visit! I'm SICK TO DEATH of their fakeness and all the drama surrounding them! There are millions of people who are sick, homeless, destitute... I think America needs to focus on what is IMPORTANT.. and let the starlets lie down on the very hard beds their infantile behavior has made for them!!

273. Sometimes I feel sorry for Britney. The press seems to hound her constantly. If I were her I would go into hiding. She needs to take care of herself, children and pets and get balance back in her life. I wish her and her family the best.

275. It's very possible that Brit was doing heroin. At which time she became violent and threw the dog against a wall. I hope the dog didn't suffer any long lasting injuries. Drugs are bad.

276. This is crazy...Britney needs a little understanding she obviously is getting attacked at every turn, she needs a break, the dogs are the least of the problem and I am sure the staff she has has it under control...get a life people!

280. God, some of you people are REALLY something! It's very easy for a dog that tiny to be acidentally stepped on ,or injured just by jumping off furniture! Are you SO desperate to rip her apart that now you accuse her of dog abuse? Why don't you get lives of your own instead of being parasites feeding of the intestines of people having a hard time? It's called LIFE! Welcome to the REAL world.

282. I was sitting here at work, surfing the web when I came across this stuff about Brit's dog. Now, I work in a hospital where I see black men being gunned down daily, young women being sexually molested daily, women being beaten by their husbands, and the list of things could go on and on. We watch in devestation daily, our soldiers living in complete hell in Iraq (away from their families). But guess what, who cares? We only care about Brit's dog with the cast. Who put the cast on? Brit's a singer not a vet, so obviously someone got the dog help. We care more about the dog getting help than people getting help. How many people get turned away from receiving help because they don't have insurance? We don't know, but we know about Brit's dog. This is ridiculous that people can really judge other people and to be so cruel about it. We have no true evidence of what is going on with or in Brit's life. Even with the dog. "Brit should know better not to leave the dog around the kids", well I have a toy poodle and guess what, my kids play with him everyday. My little boy picks him up. He Loves the dog and I'll be damned if I stand there and watch him like a sexual predator while he plays with this dog. Be realistic people. Put this energy into something positive. If you have to be so involved with Brit's life, try helping her instead of hurting her. Maybe she needs help, maybe she's hurting, anything is possible. And if she is a bad person, let GOD judge her. Lastly, if you have nothing nice to say, then just don't say anything.
