John From Jail? Nichols Popped for DUI

Austin Nichols (who?), the actor who starred in the HBO show "John From Cincinnati" and appeared in the series "Deadwood," (oh, okay), was popped by police early Friday on suspicion of DUI in somewhere called Jackson, Mich.

Cops stopped Nichols just before 3:00 AM after he was seen driving the wrong way down a one-way street in a silver Mercury Mountaineer. Sound familiar? Austin was pulled over, and officers say they smelled alcohol on his breath. Cops report that Nichols blew a .10 and was arrested. Nichols didn't tell police where he was going, but a local paper, the Jackson Citizen Patriot, which first broke the story, said Nichols has been living at Clark Lake this summer. If convicted of drunk driving, Nichols could face up to 93 days in jail, a $500 fine and community service. To add insult to no injuries, HBO has announced that "John from Cincinnati" just got the ax.

Perhaps Austin can join buddy Jake in Nantucket.

31. Best place to get popped in Michigan. Jackson is the home of one of the worst prisions in the country! He would have been much better of in Detroit (or LA)!

34. Damn John Boy, next time you decide to get drunk and drive, be sure you do it in LA. They seem to appreciate and reward that kind of stupidity out there. But since you are not female, pregnant and don't have a well known family name, the punishment may be a bit more severe. But if that were the case you could scream sexual discrimination.

39. Come on people, he's staying out of the limelight, right after his 2nd series is canceled. Drives the wrong way, while dark, just barely over the limit, in a town where he's unfamilar. Who doesn't understand that? Probably only 4 beers or so. Hey, John, (Austin) I got my eye on YOU!

41. Poor Austin!! I hate the whole thing. I really hate that I am posting on this site. I guess John From Cincinnati is really gone for good. Austin Nichols was terrific on that show. Hope things go well for him.

42. Jackson is not the place to get popped for a DUI- it has one of the roughest jails in Michigan. Catches the Detroit overflow of prisoners.....If only he had been caught in LA and happened to be a female, he would be set.

43. wow if he would of been in L.A. he might of gotten just one day. but since other places do follow the law he gets 93 days in jail. finally some celebrity justice.
