The Fish at Mr. Chow

NBA star Derek Fisher is back in L.A. to rejoin the Lakers, and more importantly, to care for his ailing daughter. A true champion!


Fisher, who has three championship rings with the Lakers, was released by the Utah Jazz at the end of last season so he could spend time caring for his one-year-old daughter, Tatum, who was diagnosed with a rare eye cancer earlier this year.

Fisher and his wife, Candace, were headed into Mr. Chow for dinner last night, and when asked how his daughter was doing, Fisher said, "Doin' great," and gave a big thumbs up.

God Bless Derek Fisher and his family, I am not a huge NBA fan but when I heard about his daughter during the interview he had with Matt on the Today show I was touched by the story and how his family is priority to him and that no money or his status is greater than his daughter. He is a TRUE HERO he is the one our children should look up to as a "star hero" and not the ones that are cheating on wife, want more money to play, drugs, dog fighting and etc. The comment that I read that # 17 put on, What comes around goes around and why would you make such cruel comments, KARMA that is all I have to say!
God Bless you the Fisher family and a Thank you to the NBA for having a kind heart during this time. I am now a Fan of Derek Fisher and the L A Lakers.

23. God bless him and his little girl. Takes a real man to walk away from his career and not just any career one that makes you a celebrity and pays the big bucks. Not to seem insentive but Mr. Edwards in vying for a seat for the White House parading his non operable wife with cancer with him. I think he should have gracefully tossed his hat in the ring and continued in private to stay home and cater to his ailing wife.

25. this guy is a jerk. he's not a doctor, why does he need to be there when his daughter gets treatment? and what, they can't afford plane tickets? a real good guy would have not walked away from the millions, he would have earned them and then donated them to other needy families with the same problem.

26. Jim #27, you are an ass. A good father is there with his baby not out earning money for other familes you butt wipe. A father is suppose to take care of HIS child as it is not his resposibilty to take up other peoples causes. This child could very well be dying and every moment every hour is a gift and her loving father knows that and wants to be with her. I swear some fo you people say the stupidest things. Same as your mom took your dumb ass to the doctor when you where a child same as these parents are doing so you want the BABY to drive herself she's 14 months old Jerk!

28. So Jim......if your child was diagnosed with cancer you would chose to be 1000 miles away and tell your wife..."you take care of her I'm busy"??? You are truly a poor excuse for a man and I pity the kid that is going to be forced to call you dad. You are the definition of an ass.
