TMZ has confirmed that Owen Wilson was taken to the hospital Sunday in Los Angeles.
Santa Monica Police issued the following statement to TMZ: "On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12:10 PM, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department at the 900 block of 23rd Street. The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated."
TMZ has learned the 911 call came in at 11:59 AM to the L.A. Fire Department.
Citing medical privacy laws, they would not release any additional information, nor would they comment on why he was transported.
A call to Owen's rep was not immediately returned.

Did anyone else wonder why the first call was to the fire dept? not an ambulance, it also reads the police were called in after fire arrived and transported him to the hospital.
Depression is a serious issue and shouldn't be taken lightly. Having had a family member kill herself at the age of 17. I know what it can do to the entire family. I hope he can get the help he needs to put himself back together. Good Luck, it may be a long road to recovery.

Fox News on line said it was a suicide attempt and he slashed his wrist.
Sad. Serious.Good looking guy with a big talent and a of family and friends and money. I know money is not the route to happiness ,but it is hard for poor , working me to get my head around that. A troubled person does not get better if you walk on eggshells aorund them. The fear of being too forcefull might push them is not true. They are already pushed.
Sometimes these hollywood types get hooked on drugs and can't get off the pleasure cruise high-raves alone.. they panic knowing that if that information got out they would lose it all, become humiliated.. so they try and kill themselves to hide it.. HUM?

They said on the news this morning that he cut both wrists in an apparent suicide attempt.

Family sources say Owen Wilson was in the kitchen, cutting his prescription pills in half with a knife. He cuts his pills in half because the reaction from swallowing a whole pill makes him crazy. The knife slipped from the pill on the countertop onto his left wrist, slicing his wrist open.
He became distracted due to briefly looking at a potrait of his ex-girlfriend Kate Hudson, while karoake-singing one of his favorite songs, playing on the stereo system, The Doors song "The End" which was on constant repeat.
And everybody assumes it was a suicide attempt.
