Falcons Won't Sack Vick

The Atlanta Falcons won't cut Michael Vick -- he's just too damn valuable. Well, at least his contract is.
Michael Vick
In a press conference, Falcons owner Arthur Blank said that while he's "profoundly disappointed and saddened" by Vick's action, the team is not willing to throw Vick to the dogs.

"We cannot tell you today that Michael is cut from the team," said Blank. "It may feel better emotionally, but it's not in the long term best interest of our franchise."

Blank added, "If we had any idea this was going on ... we would have dealt with it immediately."

17. This is what is wrong with people these days....the money that a player makes for a team is more important than morality, legality, or any other form of decency - the Falcons should be removed from the NFL - as should Michael Vick - he's pleaded guilty - what does that mean...if it comes out that he's not involved...we would want him back?? The Falcons suck anyway, and this just proves it more...Good Luck trying to get your money back Falcons - you're screwed.

18. Who cares about what's best for the franchise?!!! Vick will be a CONVICTED FELON by the time he makes it back to the Falcons. What about doing what's right?! Oh, the almighty dollar.

22. I totally ask for forgiveness and understanding as I move forward to bettering Michael Vick the person, not the football player," he said, looking someber throughout the brief news session.

He concluded by saying, "I offer my deepest apologies to everyone. And I will redeem myself. I have to."

Yada Yada Yada.....

No Soup for You.....

26. I am sick and tired of these athletes and celebrities committing horrendous crimes and getting off with a tap on the wrist because they are "too valuable to a football team." A FOOTBALL TEAM - IT'S A GAME". This is why these same people are out of control. They know they can do whatever they want, throw a football, smile pretty for the camera, and nothing happens to them. IT NEEDS TO STOP HERE. Why don't these same rules apply to school teachers when they mess up. It seems they are needed more in the classroom than on the football field or red carpet. The Michael Vick's and Lindsay Lohan's of the world need to be taught that their unspeakable behavior has harsh repercussions and until this happens, we will continue to see more and more stories like this. TOO VALUABLE TO A FOOTBALL TEAM. Even I can't stomach this and I love sports.

27. I hope all Falcons fans are thoroughly disgusted and let the owner know how they feel. Vick is a sick mo-fo, but of course, football is way more important than taking a stand and doing the right thing. Screw you Falcons!

28. Beth had it right in her early comment. Under NFL rules, if they want to recoup any of the monies they paid him (which they said they intend to do), he HAS to remain on the roster. Don't curse the team for playing by the rules.

29. I HOPE THE ATLANTIC FALCONS PLAY TO EMPTY STADIUMS IF THEY TAKE THAT MISERABLE LOW-LIFE VICK BACK. HE DOES NOT DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE. HE NEEDS LIE DOWN WITH DOGS AND LET THEM HAND OUT JUSTICE.
