Train Wrecks
Miss Teen USA Hopeful -- Say What?!

Everyone has their blonde moments, but babbly Miss Teen South Carolina had hers during a nationally televised beauty pageant. Um, duh.

Though the question wasn't exactly difficult: "Why can't 1/5th of Americans locate America on a map?" -- Lauren Caitlin Upton gave an answer that couldn't have made less sense if she were speaking in ancient Selonian ... in fact, maybe she was!

Surprise. Upton didn't win. Watch the teen train wreck attempt to speak.

76. Well ... a lot of people don't have access to maps! She must've grown up in South Africa or Iraq.

I saw this live. Wow.

Posted at 3:09PM on Aug 27th 2007 by omg is she dumb

77. Like, it's no surprise, like, she sounds like a dumbass, like, forget the question, like, just take off your top!

78. Maybe she is related to George Bush!!!!!!!

79. huh? I just don't get it? I thought her answer was fine. I don't see what is so funny or stupid about her answer.
I understood everything she said. Where's the joke??

80. Tabitha... if you understood her answer could you please explain it to the rest of the world...

Because being a U.S. American (opposed to being a Canadian or Mexico American)... like mumble mumble IRAQ like mumble mumble South Africa, like South Africa... No maps.

Hmm why can't 1/5 of Americans find the US on a world map... perhaps Our Country's education program is poor, that we are more concerned about test scores than what children and teenagers are actually learning. OR perhaps these young people are so concerned about APPEARANCES and convinced that will get them through life that picking up a book would literally kill them (I say literally because the mere thought process would implode their tiny minds. Where is Darwinism when you need it.)

I would have paid to see her try to point out the US on the map...

81. Okay. This from a European perspective...it's good to live in a "socialist" country (says my friend living in San Diego), cause education is free of charge and our schools can afford not only maps but geography teachers as well.

Hails from Finland...

82. Talk about perpetuating the "dumb blond" stereotype ....

83. Vanna...you're wrong...this was on live television. You can't judge her answer as indicative of her intelligence. She's a mere teenager on live national television, scared to death, realizing that every word coming from her mouth is being judged. Who wouldn't be frightened out of their minds? To another poster, I'm sure her parents are VERY proud of her, and they should be. She did very well to have placed fourth in a national contest with so many talented teenagers.

84. Can someone PLEASE find a way to sterilize her so those genes absolutely can NOT get passed on to the next generation!!!!!

85. Can she even M-A-P? She'd probably need help.
They ought to make sure she learns geography before she graduates. And pity the college who accepts her.

I realize some folks might say she was nervous, but hasn't she been through this stuff before? Thank GOD she isn't representing the USA in the Miss World or Universe pageants. We'd really be a laughingstock to the rest of the world then.

86. dttown, you've got to be kidding me.

These "ladies" get their fair share of hardcore coaching, just so they can actually say the right things, or at least SPEAK.

87. I think she speaks very coherently and looks great for a girl that was recently lobotomized.

88. Tabitha you must be joking, right??!!!

89. Holy Crap! So much for Bush's - 'No Child Left Behind' educational agenda. That's just sad, borderline retarded. (sorry, challenged... pc)

90. GOOD LORD.

I am a Southern girl, product of SC public schools, raised in SC and now raising my family in SC. Hopefully, I am considered literate and articulate.

This video makes me want to beat the hell out of my 3 children with a large atlas, homeschool them for 14 hours a day and dye their naturally blond hair into the darkest brunette hue I can find.
