Miss Teen Babbler -- But I CAN Speak!

She's the laughingstock of the Internet and beyond, after her babbling, dippy answer to a question at the "Miss Teen USA" pageant this past weekend, but Lauren Caitlin Upton got her chance at redemption today, courtesy of the "Today" show.

The 18-year-old South Carolina bumbling beauty got the chance at a redo, with a slightly less cubist answer, telling Matt Lauer and Ann Curry that she intended to study "special effects" in school (like how to make Blondish sound like English on live TV?) and even explained what a lunar eclipse was. Brilliant!

If you're one of the four people on the net who haven't seen Caitlin's shining moment, check it, uhmmmm, out.

61. She blew it big time not once but twice now. She needs to go stand in front of some fans with her hair pulled back so she can refill her head.

62. What a minute! This kid is an absolute genius!!!! Name one other contestant in that contest. Who even knew the contest was going on??? And who has her name blasted all over the celebrity media now??? Brilliant move. As one wag has said, "Can me anything you want in the press, just spell my name right." She folled them all.

63. Face it gang she doesn't deserve a break, I live in South Carolina and this bimbo is a perfect example of the education these nimrods get. She deserves to be a laughing stock if she didn't have the composure to stop and think about what she was being asked before she opened that gaping hole under her nose and rambled like the idiot she is.

65. I think she is not only beautiful on the outside but equally beautiful on the inside. I’ve seen some of her post interviews and I thought she handled herself with such grace after an embarrassing and unfortunate moment. Hopefully the person that wrote this hateful article can learn from her.

66. She's pretty and knows how to look good. That's all these pageants are good for anyway. What's the big deal. She's a very young girl in front of millions on TV - anyone would be nervous too.

CUT HER A BREAK PEOPLE!

69. Just saw this for the first time. Not surprised. Know people in that phony biz and it's well known that, in that particular pageant circiut, South Carolina and Texas (especially) have professionals who work full-time expressly to get their girl(s) prepped, primped, primed, pimped...WHATEVER it takes to WIN. Runner-up WILL NOT DO. Beauty, body and gown selection take precedence. Intelligence is just an afterthought, kind of like a bonus if it comes with the package. Obviously no bonus with this years pre-fab Barbie......yikes!!!

71. She did nothing to redeem herself on the "Today" show. The girl is coached and rehearsed and she does NOT LISTEN. She's too busy worrying (can't call it thinking) about her ANSWER instead of hearing the actual QUESTION. She wasn't listening to the inane questions posed to her by Ann and Matt either. She was reading from a teleprompter. The fact is, this girl was "coached" on talking points like 'Iraq' and 'South Africa' without bothering to understand the impact of those issues. I'm from South Carolina and this chick is a disgrace. If she can't take the heat, she should get off the TV...NOW!

72. She's STILL an idiot! The hosts of the show were giving her most of the answers to their own questions!

73. The right answer is because Americansl are idiots and the educational system of this country is worse than educational system in even India in terms of the matter that they teach. Why is it that Thousands of Indians, Asians and others want to study in American Universities? Because they are great and definitely among the best in the world. Why is it that no one waits in line in those poor countries for hours outside the US Embassy to get visas for studying in high schools as they do for University . Its cause they know their educational system in school is far better than ours. I studied the British A Level and what I studied in Grade 9 was what some of my friends studied in grade 12 back here in USA. The educational system in this country in Pathetic and unless we fix it.we as a nation are doomed

74. TO: Suze ..... 12:03pm comment..........................

YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOO RIGHT! HIT THAT NAIL ON THE HEAD !!!!! I saw that "interview" also and noted that all she kept saying was, "I'm human. I made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes." She sounded like the white bubble head version of Michael Vick !!!

EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She should just chalk it up to flubbing her "15" and concentrate on resuming an education ----- or starting one !!!!!!

75. "......as long as the orphans in South Africa become literate by Americans who are in America who try to help the Australians in South Africa who are illiterate achieve their dreams"
.....and those photoshopped pictures! I love Oprah as a home care worker and Ellen DeGeneres as a 1960's Barstow Beauty queen...those are done very well. It's uncanny!
