R.Kelly Trial Postponed to Spring '08

R. KellyTMZ reported yesterday that the R. Kelly trial was postponed with no new date set. Now the Chicago Sun-Times is saying that the R. Kelly case will not go to trial -- until the spring of 2008! It seems the judge needs to finish with another "chicken killer" trial that begins Feb. 13, 2008 -- leaving the Kelly trial to start sometime in the spring.

R. Kelly, 40, was accused in 2002 of 14 counts of child pornography, including making a videotape where he allegedly has sex with an underage girl. Prosecutors claim the video was made between January 1998 and October 2000. The girl in the tape, who was 14 at the time, is now 22 -- and has denied that it's her.

According to sources, the new delay is because of lawyers arguing over expert witnesses who prosecutors want to call. Lawyers in both camps weren't talking about the case -- citing of a gag order. Kelly has plead not guilty.

16. They need to quit postponing trials for these losers. This is ridiculous. They need to face the music like everyone else.

17. TMZ is completely misreporting this. The Chief Prosecutor on the R. Kelly case just had a baby and is now on maternity leave (this has been in the news for months, everyone knew the trial would be postponed). When the Chief Prosecutor comes back from maternity leave, the Judge on the R. Kelly case will be in the middle of the James Degorski trial (the other co-Defendant from the Brown's Chicken Massacre). That trial is a capital murder case and is expected to go for weeks if not months. That is why there will be such a long delay until Spring of 2008.

18. Okay now this is beyond rediculous! Postponed? What the hell is going on with the judicial system in Chicago. That's what everyone should be questioning. This happened all those years ago and this man still hasn't been put on trial. I agree with # 8, money talks! I saw the scandalous tape and that was clearly an under aged child (or an extremely under developed woman). So she's claiming that wasn't her on the tape. Again, money talks! Obviously she's going to swear to this in court under oath. When it's all said and done, I hope they throw her ass in jail too, for perjury. Then again, with the way that court system has handled this case, he'll probably get off too.

24. For the last time, both R Kelly and OJ Simpson are innocent, and I think that the real problems are a combination of both RACISM and JEALOUSY. Oh and cpaul is spot on about the haters on this site.

25. Hey CPaul, Get a grip! People go to jail because they committed crimes. Some of the guilty have good lawyers and are not convicted. Who's fault is it the jails are full of certain races. I'll say it again. You are a fool! And as for the Democrat comment, you sure don't sound like a republican to me. If the shoe fits.

26. You guys talk about California, what the hell is going on w/ the justice system in Chicago . . . .

27. Jiggy, from reading your comments you have a lot to learn about what goes on in the real world. It's unfortunate that every time a black person says that racism might be a factor, all of the Rush Limbaugh fan club members come running out of the woodwork to denounce that person. Maybe you just refuse to see the world for what it is, maybe you've been sheltered for a better part of your life, I don't know, but what I do know is that as long as we have narrow-minded people like yourself still walking thjis great country of ours, there will always be the need for people like myself to provide a balance. As for being a Republican, nope, a life-long conservative Christian Democrat.

29. Do u dig it,

There is nothing to be jealous of. One pees on little girls and we all know what the other did. Why do you think OJ was found liable and forced to pay? I do not see what racism and jealousy have to do with peeing on little girls anyway. At least I spend time with people my own age.
