Winehouse in Surprise Appearance in London

Click to return to TMZ.comDespite canceling her North American tour, Britwreck Amy Winehouse isn't giving up performing -- she unexpectedly popped up at the Mercury Music awards in London last night.

Winehouse, who had been "holidaying" with her hubby in St. Lucia instead of going to rehab, performed an acoustic version of "Love Is a Losing Game" before losing out on the top prize to the Klaxons -- and it was amazing.

She should've gotten a prize just for showing up.

31. "She should've gotten a prize just for showing up."

Oh really, TMZ!?! Yes, let's keep rewarding the crackhead for being a crackhead, and when her heart finally gives out you can post pages and pages about it and what a tragic loss she is. To your bottom line that is. It's just a shame that she's ultimately worth more dead than alive, so it's in no one's best interest to try to save her life. Hope you can squeeze another CD out of her ass before she croaks for full monetary benefit.

BTW, I'm not a fan of Amy's, but I am a fan of Kurt's, Jimi & Janis, so I've already seen this crummy movie before.

32. Looks like she got a shower. Beautiful voice Amy, looks like you were sober this time.

33. And #29, you're just so perfect aren't you? You're the "NY Gal in So Cal" so I guess you would know who is and isn't blinded by celebrity. You REALLY shouldn't throw stones until YOU grow up. Number 19 is just sending out her good wishes, and you call that immature?

34. #33 - Thank you from an artist.

kk, you don't even get it. These people don't destroy themselves to entertain you. They destroy themselves because many of them are hyper-sensitive souls who are escaping real life, and insensitive dolts. It's the soul that makes the artist, not their chemical dependency level.

35. You know, I never even heard of this girl until TMZ started doing stories on here 3 times a day. Of course, every story I read was of how she's a strung out crackhead (no argument by the way, she is). I started listening to her music just to hear what the fuss is all about and by God, she has an amazing voice with such a unique sound.

The girl needs to eat a sandwich and get into a serious rehab facility. Rather than judge her and act like we all are perfect and have no problems or skeletons in our closets, we should probably be praying or sending good thoughts her way.

Here's hoping she gets better. It would be a shame for her to die at such a young age with so much talent left (Kurt Cobain, anyone?).

36. #34 you made me realize I should have said "Funny how SOME "artists"..." Apologies for painting with a broad brush!

37. Oh Please... I think you have me mixed up with someone else. I was comment 29.

Continual meltdown...I haven't heard Amy or any other artist complain about first amendment rights, so your premise is wrong from the start. What I can tell you is that some people on these sites take sadistic delight in just ripping people apart for the fun of it. To me, that's immoral!

38. wow the harshness on this board for this poor woman trapped by the demon heroin!!!! its a super strong heavy duty f u up drug, like there are sooooooo few who survive heroin addiction, my best friends were all addicted some died, some survived thankfully but i'd never judge the individual, i tried it a couple of times and ran from it cuz its so good u can easily see why they die for it. if anything they need our positive prayers going out for them, not negative nasty mean spirited words on the net that most cowards wouldnt say to her face alone in a room if she were dying. STOP JUDGING OTHERS AND LOOK IN THE MIRROR MY GOSH , WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? she is atleast a major singer, look in the mirror!!! In the end? We will all be judged by our own yardstick.

39. Though her voice is pretty and strong, she would benefit TREMENDOUSLY from some vocal lessons to help her enunciate her words more clearly. I can't understand what she is saying half the time. However, I will let her compete in the next American Idol. Congratulations, Amy. You're going to

40. kk - look, I'll give you that some (and that's SOME) people who comment are simply jealous or take pleasure in tearing someone down for the fun of it.

But there are COUNTLESS times that an artist (musician, actor, whatever) takes immense issue with the fact the public has an opinion on anything they do or say outside of their craft. They benefit greatly by the very fact they have a high public profile, but think they should be immune to any criticism for their actions. It's completely unrealistic to think they can have it both ways. Most people do understand that we cannot expect someone to be perfect...it's the hypocrisy that drives people up the wall.

I agree that we disagree, and appreciate the fact you defend your position.

41. kk and continual meltdown, I am one such person who delights in ripping other's to shreds. It helps me, somehow.

42. this girl is truly gifted with an amazing voice. it's so sad that show's going down the destructive past. she truly is just about the only performer that has real talent these days. the music industry is a joke. instead of talent instead they care about who has the right "look" that can appeal to the younger audience. the days of real talent have long passed. now it's all about production, and image and lip syncing. i hope she pulls herself together. anyone who can sing LIVE gets my respect.
