38. Who is Mark Hatten, in a nutshell:

Anna's former bodyguard and f-buddy.

Howard wanted him out of the picture because he was a loudmouth and didn't like Stern.

In the meantime, Anna became friends with Mark's sister, Jackie.

Mark didn't buy in to anything Stern had to say, so, to retaliate, Stern convinced Anna to fire Mark.

When Mark learned he had been fired, he went to Anna's house and LOUDLY objected. There was no physical violence.

Still, Stern called the police because thick-headed Mark refused to leave the premises.

When the police arrived, Stern told them that Mark was a stalker and had made threats.

In other words, Stern lied. Nothing new.

The case went to trial. Howard wanted Jackie (Mark's sister and Anna's friend) to testify against her brother.

Jackie refused.

This caused the split between Jackie and Anna.

Stern prevailed in Court in a case built on false allegations.

So Mark is in jail for nothing.


Having Mark taken away in cuffs was the result of Stern's last attempt to get rid of Mark Hatten. Not that Stern hadn't tried to boot Mark from Anna's life before. Mark had managed to ingratiate himself in Anna's household and enjoyed many nights of partying--partying that involved drugs, alcohol, and sex.

During this time period, Mark was also cautioning Anna to be wary of Stern. During one of their many arguments, Anna blurted out to Stern what Mark was saying about him.

This sealed Mark's fate. Stern had to get rid of him.

Mark's assertion (and basis for his lawsuit against Stern) that Stern tried to kill him by injecting him with drugs while he was passed out in a bathtub (after a night of partying) is not all that unbelievable.

Mark has been maintaining a website while in prison. Listen to his statement. He is not an educated man, so his ignorance can be off-putting. But then again, it's easy to determine, while listening to him, whether he is earnest in his claims or if he is lying.

41. I am first struck with the fact that Hatten has been in prison for several years over what was allegedly described as a 3rd grade fight. Why did the neighbor mace Hatten when the police were already on their way?

I'd like to see the findings of the court and just what crime Hatten was actually convicted of that required years of prison, not probation/community service and counseling.

Hatten has lots of time to spend in the prison library with the jail house "lawyers". It will be interesting to see if he gets his day in court.

Perhaps if Anna had dealt with her friends and family directly, NONE of this might have happened.

How many convicts say they are innocent? most of them I think.M Hatten is no different.I would like to talk or see someone interview some of his roomates from days gone by.Not ones that may have something to gain.Of course he is not going to admit to what he did.But in the finial story he was caught red handed and HKS wasn't at the house untillANS calle him and he inturn called 911 and tan came over. If he was so innocent why take a knife after ANS ,why fight with a neighbor about leaving .Does not make sense no matter how you look at it.If I thought I could get a few million from a suit I might just be very earnest also.Bet the o'quinn team had a field day with him.At least he didn't lie and say he knew LB like his sister did IMO
