Legendary Tenor Pavarotti Dead at 71

Epic opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, whose voice and style made him one of the most famed opera singers to have ever lived, has died, his manager told The Associated Press. He was 71.

Pavarotti had been fighting a long battle with pancreatic cancer. His manager, Terri Robson, sent the AP an e-mail statement confirming that the singer died at his home in Modena, Italy, at 5:00 AM local time.

"The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterised his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness," the statement read.

49. When Pavarotti sang even the gods were overwhelmed with the clear, pure, perfection of his voice and way the music infused his whole being. He was a gift to the world ... and made our lives richer and so much more beautiful. He united young and old, rich and poor...we KNEW what ART was when we heard him sing. His music transcended all boundaries and gave us a glimpse of eternal perfection. Thank you, Luciano, for all you gave. You gave us beauty....your voice will resonate in my heart for all my days....

50. Such a beautiful gift you gave to us all Maestro..To know that no one here on earth will have the opportunity to hear you sing again is so very sad.

I have to say I am so pleased by the majority of positive comments posted. Thank you TMZ for not mocking this wonderful human being who gave to the world so much beauty by his amazing voice.

So many people are just going through the motions, wastes of time and space, and then there are some people, you wish they could live forever.
