Legendary Tenor Pavarotti Dead at 71

Epic opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, whose voice and style made him one of the most famed opera singers to have ever lived, has died, his manager told The Associated Press. He was 71.

Pavarotti had been fighting a long battle with pancreatic cancer. His manager, Terri Robson, sent the AP an e-mail statement confirming that the singer died at his home in Modena, Italy, at 5:00 AM local time.

"The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterised his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness," the statement read.

121. He sang the finest rendition of Ave Maria that I have ever heard! His movie, Yes, Georgio, is actually pretty funny.

123. Whatta mean class act? Geez... he cheated on his wife with a WAY younger woman. He sang music that nobody could sing along to and he dyed his hair because he couldn't act and look his age. Looking at that photo it appears as though he dyed his eyebrows and beard as well. Wow! That's really weird.

128. Raoul- no comment on the cheating thing as that's none of my business and I could care less about his personal life and prefer enjoying his music. But just because someone with a low IQ like you can't understand his music and "sing along", it doesn't mean other people can't. Don't put people in your circle.

132. Now HE had talent..unlike the bimbos in Hollywood you bombard us with and who will be forgotten in a few years. Mr. Pavaratti had a magnificent voice and presence and introduced so many of us to opera. He will be sadly missed but his music will live on forever. Rest in Peace!

135. #9... I hope we say that about you! I can't believe they let you on here. What a sad story. His music will live on and hopefully younger generations will still appreciate it for the truly great works they are.
