The former Disney Channel star has put on 15 pounds of muscle for his upcoming role in "Indiana Jones 4" -- but he's still wearing the same size pants.

Don't get me wrong, I'm anti-smoking like everyone else...but how come TMZ doesn't run pictures of other celebrities smoking, like Katherine Heigl, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and may others who smoke who I can not think of right now? Most celebrities smoke, put ussualy news outlets don't like to purchase those pictures. So don't come down so hard on someone like Shia. At least he's never been to rehab or jail.

Gross! I smoked for 15 years & finally quit. There is nothing sexy about a mouth that smells like an ash tray! Hollywood places a huge value on looks, but so many actors SMOKE! actors always want to look young, but smoking ages you & does a real number on your teeth too. Cancer, lung diseases.. smoking is bad. There was even a pic of Rumor Willis puffing away- w/ her youth obsessed mama you know that's a No-NO! This guy isn't a role model- hollywood isn't the place to find them! Everyone has a choice to smoke or not, but it is verry addictive.. I say Quit if you can!!!

It's not this actors job to keep kids from smoking- that's what parents are for.. I do feel sorry for an actress that has to do a kissing scene w/ him though! Yellow teeth are not sexy! It's hard to hide it. If you are a smoker & quit you can smell cigarette smoke a mile away! It is on clothes, purses.. even library books!

To Nonsmoker now..., Demi Moore actually smokes. I know it ages you but I think good genes trump smoking when it comes to how we age. But that being said, I'm glad you were able to quit :)

This puts Shia in a new, unflattering light.
I thought he was a talented up-and-coming actor, but he's acting more like Kevin Federline in that picture.
Hopefully, this is just a phase young Shia is going through, and he will realize the errors of his ways before he is diagnosed with emphysema.
Plus, cigarettes smell disgusting.
I believe this picture was "news" on TMZ because it has opened up a dialogue between people about the dangers of tobacco.

This guy is ridiculously talented. Anyone with a brain can see that. And big deal, so he has a vice, he smokes....and he eats, piss, sleeps like us. You know he's HUMAN. He himself doesnt claim to be a role model. Besides, he's 21. who's gives a flying... His choice. And what's the big deal, its HIS body. I'm sure half the people on the tmz staff and the readers posting negative comments do coke and worse. Piss off folks.

Don't think it is good genes in that case.
Leaving out the Botox variable, it is often easy to spot ladies in their 50s and 60s who have smoked heavily for 30 years or so.
Thinking on it, one example of such gave up the smokes last year, and told me how it was a real struggle after so long (35 years) and was making her feel depressed. Then what do you know, she passed 2 months later of something unrelated. Might as well have smoked up to the end and enjoyed that last bit of time more.

comment to #15..... You may not smoke, but i'll bet you sure do use the therapist for your anger issues....perhaps smokers, obese and the drinkers should thank you as well for higher insurance premiums.. Mr.Jim all trying to sound big and bad, and you came out looking STUPID!
