"American Idol" reject Bucky Covington got a real boost to his career -- as headliner at -- hold for it -- The Great Southeast Balloon Fest. The wha? TMZ was on scene when Bucky boy blasted his own brand of hot air and spastic dancing for what looks like an audience of dozens of adoring old folks in Anderson, South Carolina. Bucky "performed" before the hot dog eating contest, and just after the wing eating contest. At least he was out in front of other bands like ... Morris Day and the Time! Oh-wee-oh-wee-oh!
When your final 15 minutes of "Idol" fame tick down ... this is where you go. There's always the balloon ride.
31. Do your homework. Bucky is taking the country music world by storm. He is the biggest selling new male country artist of 2007, and his single "A Different World" is a Top 5 hit and a staple of current radio playlists. His self-titled first album debuted at Number 1 on the Billoboard Hot Country Albums charts, and he is about to tour with another hot country newcomer, Jason Michael Carroll. So, before you make Bucky out to be another William Hung, which he could not be further from, check your facts and stats.
32. South Carolina is hardly in the Midwest. Come on, TMZ. Why is it that everyone from Southern California has no clue where any other state or region is outside their precious little area?

35. I'm not a Bucky fan, but as was commented, he's doing ok in the country world right now. I have to suffer through his music while my daughter watches the top 20 videos every week. I like some country but not him...but evidently a lot of people do. Pretty cheap shot. Slow news day. I guess Britney's weave must have stayed under her hat and she wore underwear today.

37. How is Bucky C. a wannabe? He's living his dream, doing everything he always hoped he'd get to do. I saw him on tv singing on the stage of the Grand Ol Opry. I saw his video on tv. I hear about his album on the charts and now hear the second album is coming out. I understand he's got more money than he ever thought he'd have. He's not working in his father's auto garage anymore but living his dreams out every day. Anyone who looks at the man's face can tell he is living his life for real, doing everything and more that he hoped to do.
That's not a wannabe in anybody's book.

Bucky has a top-selling CD, he has appeared with top country acts all over the USA, and has been performed on the Grand Old Opry. If he's "an American Idol reject", I guess that title also applies to Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Clay Aikens.... and who's that reject that is now appearing on Broadway in "The Color Purple" and who's that reject that won an Academy Award?? None of them were # 1 on American Idol, but they are all doing great in their own areas of expertise. Just because you don't like (or don't know anything about) country music, don't show your ignorance by slamming Bucky who's career is going pretty great for "an American Idol reject" and "a dumb old redneck country boy"!!!
So TMZ, pull your heads out and give credit where credit is due. A lot of people like those country boys with the shy smiles and the southern drawls who dance kind of funny. Remember ELVIS??!!

44. If TMZ wants to do a story about Idol "Wannabeen's ", you need to be sure and include updates on Jennifer Hudson and Chris Doughtry; neither one of them won Idol either, so I guess that makes them Wannabeen's also......
