Beyonce: "I'm Just Jealous That I Wasn't Born Latina"

BeyonceRing the alarm! Buttastic Beyonce -- who is up for "Female Artist of the Year" at the VMAs -- tells Latina Magazine, "I'm just jealous that I wasn't born Latina. I wish I had been because the culture is so beautiful." If Beyonce is going to attempt to voice an original thought, perhaps she should write it down and read it first!

Bey may have put her high-heeled foot in her mouth with this one! Somebody let this woman know that appreciating a culture is great, but actually wishing (and perhaps morphing) yourself into it is a little annoying. The sultry singer goes on to say, "
I noticed a big difference between speaking to all of the Latino stations and speaking to the pop stations or the other stations. With the Latino stations, there was so much love and everyone is so genuine." Is anyone listening out there? Hola?!

Where was Beyonce's mother, Ms. Tina, or even Jay-Z when this was going on?! From now on this girl needs a chaperone to monitor all statements! Her booty is legendary, but she shouldn't speak out of it.

32. I have so many different races and cultures in my background that I'm not even sure what I am, so I don,t say this I am (fill in the blank with a race or culture). What is the big whoop here? Since when does saying positive things about one culture mean that you're dissing your own?? I wish I was born in Hawaii cause they have no winter but it doesn't mean I'm dissing my home town. People are climbing a tree and I don't even get why. Seriously.

33. are you serious?! why can't anyone compliment a culture without some dumba** accusing that person of not liking their own culture enough. We really should learn to not blow things out of proportion.

34. The hair from Beyonce's weave is probably latina, so I guess she gets her wish in a way.

35. Personally, I like Beyonce I think she was trying to make a nice compliment.

P.S: In post #47 I meant to say piece.

Thank you

36. Suck it up Princess Beyonce. You are black, and that is never going to change, so get over yourself. Just learn Spanish, and study Hispanic culture if you want to capture a Latin audience.

37. Once again TMZ gets an article and make it something it's not. The article she did is pretty long. and they take one sentence and BLOW IT OUT of contents as usual. I have come to notice TMZ does this alot. making people think it's about race when it isnt. Bring out the racist in all of us.
Shame on you TMZ

38. What is the big deal? She was only trying to compliment Latinos. And as a Lation I can tell you that Latinos feel the same appreciation about the African American community as well. A lot of Latinos listen to and are influenced by black music, style and dance as is the rest of the nation, even if you don’t want to admit to it. Don’t let TMZ make this a black and Latino issue. We are minorities who share common ground in a county where racism still exist, especially on TMZ’s boards. As a Latino I say thanks, Beyonce! Respect from us Latinos to you!

39. What am I missing here? Why do people consider this offensive exactly? I am honestly looking for feedback. It sounds like she embraces the Latino community. Her words were sincere, it seems. Please help me understand. Thanks.

40. So much for the "I'm Black and I'm proud" movement. I bet the good people at BET will just love those comments! If that doesn't lose Beyonce some fans, I don't know what will. oh well, on to MTV tres ...

41. Ok, I may be thick as a brick, but I really don't understand what was so offensive about her comment. I think she's trying too hard to suck up to a demographic group where she probably is not selling to well, but I fail to see how this warrants all the hate and anger. Could someone please explain?

42. I'm curious... This is a story about an African-American woman who said she wished she were Latina.

Why are white people being attached, much less mentioned? Just curious. Haters hate, I guess.

Re: what Beyonce said: I'm white, and I have been immersed in both the black and hispanic cultures at different times in my life. I do agree that Americans are the most repressed when it comes to expressing love. I found my relaltionships with my black family and my later El Salvadoran family to be among the warmest I have ever known. I witness a great deal of touch among Asian families.

Speaking of Asian, I must comment on the idiot Asian who ranted and railed against white people. His/her generalization of an entire race as "retarded" only proves that he/she knows NOT what he/she is talking about. Just a chance to express your hatred, I guess. I pity you, living here in America with all these white people. It must be pure HELL for you! lol

I'm out...................

44. Yall are missing the point....................... the point is you should be proud were you came from and what it took to get u here. And for the " i never see black girls with long black hair" comment: Stop hiding were Osama is hiding then! Stop outside of your little low life existence and see the world!!! It's a wonderful place!!!!!
