Beyonce: "I'm Just Jealous That I Wasn't Born Latina"

BeyonceRing the alarm! Buttastic Beyonce -- who is up for "Female Artist of the Year" at the VMAs -- tells Latina Magazine, "I'm just jealous that I wasn't born Latina. I wish I had been because the culture is so beautiful." If Beyonce is going to attempt to voice an original thought, perhaps she should write it down and read it first!

Bey may have put her high-heeled foot in her mouth with this one! Somebody let this woman know that appreciating a culture is great, but actually wishing (and perhaps morphing) yourself into it is a little annoying. The sultry singer goes on to say, "
I noticed a big difference between speaking to all of the Latino stations and speaking to the pop stations or the other stations. With the Latino stations, there was so much love and everyone is so genuine." Is anyone listening out there? Hola?!

Where was Beyonce's mother, Ms. Tina, or even Jay-Z when this was going on?! From now on this girl needs a chaperone to monitor all statements! Her booty is legendary, but she shouldn't speak out of it.

46. I'm curious... This is a story about an African-American woman who said she wished she were Latina.

Why are white people being attached, much less mentioned? Just curious. Haters hate, I guess.

Re: what Beyonce said: I'm white, and I have been immersed in both the black and hispanic cultures at different times in my life. I do agree that Americans are the most repressed when it comes to expressing love. I found my relaltionships with my black family and my later El Salvadoran family to be among the warmest I have ever known. I witness a great deal of touch among Asian families.

Speaking of Asian, I must comment on the idiot Asian who ranted and railed against white people. His/her generalization of an entire race as "retarded" only proves that he/she knows NOT what he/she is talking about. Just a chance to express your hatred, I guess. I pity you, living here in America with all these white people. It must be pure HELL for you! lol

I'm out...................

50. It's nice that she loves the Latino culture, but she should've chosen better words. She made it seem like she doesn't like her race. Now I don't know her to make any judgements about what she thinks about the African American culture, so I'm just going from what has been quoted. She should've said "If I could choose another culture to be born into besides the African American culture, I would choose the Latino culture because it's so beautiful."

51. Kudos to Beyonce! I don't believe for a minute that she was dissing her own culture/race.

As a person proud of their Latin heritage, there has been many a time I have wished to be part of an African American family. I think they have a rich, proud and interesting culture. I also think African Americans are extremely united and look out for each other.

That doesn't mean I'm not proud of my culture, it's just that I admire theirs to such an extent that I wouldn't mind to have been born African American.

I wish Latinos would demand the respect we deserve as contributors to this society.

Before you start with your, go back to your country crap. I was born in this country, so were my parents, my grandparents and my great granddad was brought over by a white woman to be a house boy. You can find his name on the 1st U.S. census.

As a country, I think we should be more ashamed of the white Americans that are still asking for handouts when they've clearly been in this country for generations, instead of blaming all the ills of society on illegal immigrants.

She has a new fan, can't wait to go out and buy a Beyonce cd.

55. Not to mention how stupid it is to say "Latin culture"... WHICH Latin culture? There are many, and they are all different. Stupid. Like saying Asian culture... Chinese different from Japanese, different from Indian. Different religions and belief systems. Duh.

56. Ok, people. Some of you are giving compliments or whatever to latinos, and that's great but it's also really stereotypical! I'm 100% Colombian, and I don't have tan skin or dark brown hair or whatever. I know some colombians who are white with blonde hair and green eyes! people should know what they're talking about before making stereotypical generalizations.... that's all i'm saying.

59. Cuál es el problema? Yo soy latina y el comentario me parece perfecto! Gracias, darling. Si no fueran tan yankis hinchapelotas, rompiendo los kinotos con lo políticamente correcto, se lo podrían tomar a la ligera y sonreir :)

60. I am LATINA and very very proud of it! I of course don't see anything wrong with her comment. The problem here is that some people keep this type of comments to themselves and when somebody says it people get alarmed. For me all cultures have something beautiful about them, but the one thing you can't deny is that the Latino culture is very rich and people are very warm unlike some or I could say most Americans. And about the Radio stations the difference is very clear and she's right because I've being a Spanish Radio Director myself and they are very different than the American stations in the way they treat people. I also think it doesn't matter where she's from cause for me she's a great artist!
