Warm mess Britney Spears is set to get the party started tonight at MTV's Video Music Awards. While she's a VMA vet -- who could forget the Madonna kiss or her snake-charming "I'm a Slave 4 U" number? -- her nerves appear to be getting what's left of the better of her.

On Friday night, after a lengthy rehearsal, Brit-Brit headed out to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino with her entourage. According to 24sizzler.com, a source overhead Britney saying how jittery she was about performing on the awards show.

Given the last year or so of her trainwreckedness, like this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this, it's no wonder Brit's nerves are causing her nausea. Tonight's performance could be the beginning of a new era for the toppled pop princess -- or yet another whooshing slide down the greased slope toward tabloid horror and the D-list .

31. This lady has enough money coming in from her perfumes and old CDs. Her most important job is raising her boys, but I don't see that. She is constantly in pictures showing a piece of her body. It's so freaking twisted.

She should have had her kids taken away and been arrested for indecent exposure. What a double standard! A man wouldn't have gotten away with exposing himself like she has.

BRIT OFFERED HOPE THAT TRAILER PARK TRASH COULD GET A FAST DIVORCE (((TWICE!!) AND HAVE NANNIES TAKE CARE OF THE BRATS. AND GO TO STARBUCKS INSTEAD OF EATING DEEP FRIED HOGS FEET AND OREOS.

33. She's gonna rock it! Believe it! I'm not sure whether it was the VMA's or Grammy's but
there were a slew of performers, Janet Jackson included, over the past 5 years and
every single one of them were lip-syncing (sp?). This girl (or her PR people) is a
marketing genius ala Madonna. She had 9 months of what I would call "planned
insanity" and it's all going to pay off tonight, y'all.

And as someone else stated to Jean, lay off the "mother crap." Worry about YOUR
kids because Britney's kids are just fine.

By the way, her horrible record as some of you have stated, is number 9 on the
Billboard charts and climbing....it's only been out for less than a week!

Watch tonight kids, the VMA's will have their highest ratings ever!

36. I hope she does well. And for all of you commenting on her parenting, the truth is that you have no idea what she is like as a mother, except what you have read in the tabloids. Maybe you need to pay more attention to you own life, instead of the life of someone you don't even know. Either way, when you make comments about something you can't possibly know anything about, you only make yourself look stupid.

43. She has been performing since a very young age so she really should pull it off. I'm watching it and hoping much that she can pull it off. The song she is performing is hot so thats a good sign. I'm hoping you do well Britney! Fingers crossed its goes smothely!
