32. I've seen Martin out with Bette several times socially, and he is a polite, funny guy. (and very supportive of his wife!) Anyone who know's Midler are quite aware of the fact that she does not suffer fools gladly. If Martin is in her life, after 20 years, he has earned it. They make a great couple, and their daughter is a gem.

They are one of the very few marriages to have survived "starship enterprise", been married for years, have a great , smart kid...why else would Johnnie Carson pick her as his last guest!!

44. All these comments on how he LOOKS are so ridiculous.
The fact that he loves and supports his wife, and that she loves him are
a bit more important than his appearance. Maybe that's why their marriage
has stood the test of time...unlike Britney and all these other losers that
are married for fifteen minutes. Ever hear of Mr. von Haselberg doing anything
stupid? No. Because he's an adult.

45. Bette is proof positive that you can have a successful public life and keep your private life private. She is not getting out of limos "commando" or shaving her head or going to Promises. Her husband and daughter have been kept out of the public eye for a reason. PRIVACY!!! I respect her for that. Security should have check it out before they tried to oust him. Do you hear scandal about Matt Damon, Ben and some other successful film stars. Pacino, DeNiro which they did raise hell - never had the bad publicity that is so prevalent today. Kudos to those to can keep their private life PRIVATE!
