Daniel Baldwin: Terrific Progress, Advice for Lohan

TMZ caught up with Daniel Baldwin as he appeared before a judge for a progress report on drug charges from last November.

Today, the judge was happy with the healthy looking, rehabbed Baldwin brother's progress, and dropped his fine -- commending him for a job well done, saying, "I'm proud of you." Hooray!

Outside of court, Baldwin dropped a bit of advice for LiLo, saying, "I guarantee she wouldn't have these problems had she decided to make the commitment [to rehab] for a year."

Baldwin, who is now voluntarily residing in a sober living facility, is about to become a father for the third time. He'll be back in court on December 7.

16. YOU GO DANIEL!! I experienced the drug addiction with my son, who died at age 35..He always told me, "mom, I want to get back to the real world, I didn't role over one day and say "oh, I think I will be become an heroine addict." He was one of those who thought he could use it recreationally...not so...He was the nicest, kindest, loving person that a mother could ever have..Always respected me..Worked from the time he was old enough..Coming from a divorced family, he was my man of the house..So I know for sure that "good guys" like my son and you go through a hell on earth trying to kick the habit...He died of Aids Daniel..Don't let this happen to you...God Bless you Daniel...I am behind you 100% and I never gave up on my son and he was always thankful for that...

18. Good for him is right.

And what's wrong with Daniel giving Lindsay Lohan advice? He's older; she's just a kid.
That's one reason AA has the well-deserved, good reputation it has. Because those who have just begun to work on sobriety can learn by listening to those who have more experience.

As for the child's mother, Daniel met the woman while he was in Promises. I thought she was one of the chefs.

19. Lay off Daniel,
Giving advice to Lindsay in the media is my gig!
Stick to talking about your own screwy family!

21. Daniel is not in Rehab, but is living in a Sober Living Community, in other words instead of acting like 30 days in a facility can keep you clean he finally committed to the accountability of a Structured Sober Living. It is a proven fact that transitioning into recpvery over a period of time increases your odds of staying sober a year to almost 60 percent. compared to 3 percent without it.

22. #8 Nancy.....I understand the point you are trying to make, but you should have taken it a little further. It is true most people don't have the money for a year in rehab & they get/stay sober.

At the same time, MOST people don't have the distractions, the free time, the lack of a sense of responsibility, people to cover their every mishap (I can't believe all the excuses I have heard for Britney's behavior at the VMAs..... she was tired, stressed, something in her eyedrops irritated her eyes which is why they looked so blank, upset by Sarah Silverman's remarks, lack of rehearsal time, didn't plan to lipsynch, bruise on her heel, program was changed, program was not allowed to go on as rehearsed, etc., etc., etc.).

What about staying out all night (& followinf Diddy like a unwanted puppydog) drinking frozen margaritas (or was it daiquries?) as soon as she stepped off the plane, or Oops, forgot my panties again even tho I changed clothes after the show???? WTF She is 26 years old!!! How many times are we going to be forced to see her nasty ho-ha?

Those folks are a bunch of Peter Pans who never want to grow up. And they are surrounded by people who are misguiding them & covering up for them. A bunch of enablers. My respect goes to those "normal people" who are successful on their own & stay that way.

24. You naysayers are idiots. Give the man props and the benefit of doubt. He's right - If someone makes a commitment for at least a year instead of these in out programs have a much better chance of making it. I wish anyone trying to recover good wishes.
