"Top Chef" Contestant in Alleged Gay Bash

A former contestant on the hit Bravo reality show "Top Chef" was allegedly beaten by attackers yelling anti-gay slurs in an affluent part of Long Island.

Josie Smith-Malave, an openly gay woman and a contestant on the second season, says she was with a group of women who were asked to leave the bar Partners in tony Sea Cliff, NY over Labor Day weekend.

Smith-Malave's lawyer says about 10 young people followed the group of women and began hurling anti-gay epithets, spitting on them and then beating them. Nassau County police tell TMZ the incident is still under investigation.

Smith-Malave, originally a Miami native, was kicked off the show in episode 5. She once played on a team for the Independent Women's Football League.

32. re: # 32

I so disagree with you. In this day and age, no one fears being gay. There isn't a hidden agenda because the gays flaunt their sexual preference. We get to listen, watch and see people hurt because we are straight and God help us if we dare disagree with a gay.
We aren't allowed to express our opinions concerning their life style, they can do no wrong.
Well know this, the hatred the gays have generated boils over and things like the incident at Partners ( the chef and her group were thrown out ) is going to happen and the HATRED was generated from the gays not the other way around.

33. are you kiddin' me? #33 and all the rest who think being gay is wrong. you are entitled to your opinion but i don't get a say so in who you date, marry, or anything else so why should you all get a say so in who i marry? flaunt our sexual preference...really? my entire life has been saturated with images/ideas of the heterosexual majority. so some how if we stand up and fight for our rights to be treated equally then we're flaunting it or trying to push some agenda. how about we're just trying to live our lives and be happy just like everyone else. being gay doesn't make you right/wrong nor does being straight. life is short enough. why not figure out a way to coexhist peacefully with the little time that we have? is that really so difficult?

35. Josie can be aggressive and confrontational - especially if she's loaded. I don't condone any sort of hate crime, but let's wait for the whole story to come out before we point fingers and lodge lawsuits.
