GLAAD to Ja Rule -- You Da Problem, Homey!

Ja RuleRapper Ja Rule recently made the following asinine statement in Complex Magazine about what he thinks is really causing the downfall of society, "...lets talk about all these f***ing shows that they have on MTV that is promoting homosexuality, that my kids can't watch this s**t. Dating shows that's showing two guys or two girls in mid afternoon. Let's talk about s**t like that! If that's not f***ing up America, I don't know what is." Um, how 'bout gun violence, poverty and a broken health care system?!

Get GLAAD's statement, after the jump.

In response to Ja's homophobic remarks, GLAAD issued the following statement:

"No fair-minded person can look at JaRule's interview with Complex Magazine and believe for one second that his children could be more harmed by what they might see on television than by the vulgarity and prejudice that comes out of their father's mouth. Now that media have seen JaRule's intolerance unmasked by his own words, they have a responsibility not to provide in the future a platform for his ugly, vulgar displays of prejudice." Word!

61. Ja's a douchebag but I don't like GLAAD's response: by suggesting that "media have a responsibility" not to allow Ja to voice his viewpoint (which, admittedly, is embarrasingly close-minded) they're basically trying to blacklist Ja, and that runs counter to freedom of speech principles. Freedom of speech means we're all going to be exposed to offensive speech once in a while. But if we allow someone's viewpoint to be blacklisted by the media because it's offensive, then who will get to decide what is offensive? GLAAD? Bill O'Reilly? You get my drift . . .

62. HOORAY for Ja Rule for speaking up!
Clearly I'm not a fan of any rap music, but someone needs to talk about how wicked and perverse our society is becoming. And how homosexuals are the most INTOLERENT group of people (Yes, GLAAD and PETA you're included).
I don't care how much you try to desensitize everyone by putting your wicked lifestyles in the media forefront via television shows, movies etc. According to the Bible and the Jesus that I serve, Homosexuality is still an abomination (period). There's nothing else to discuss. It's dead wrong.

63. How many of you tired ass pathetic fools are there out there? If this ignorant skidmark of human is the moral compass of society or your personal hero. Pull your lip over your head and swallow and do the rest of the world a favor. I personally as a gay man could care less what ignorant bass ackward creatures such this wonder with the iq of a salad bowl have to say. However when the rest of you pathetic scared of your own shadows and realities never will be's. Start flappin your lips and your spittle flyin well someone needs to write you a new reality check. Since someone obviously stopped payment.

News flash, gay is no more a choice then your crooked teeth and cross eyes were for you. While your general appearence is offensive to my eyes and your speech often the dulcent tone of a buzz saw on a chalkboard. I do not deny that god made you stupid and pathetic for a reason. After all someone has to be. So the rest of us can feel better about ourselves. After all we could have been you.

Here's another news flash and one you should consider as you spout off at the mouth. Seems the more someone has an issue with gay people. The more likely they are to be sneakin round back for quickie with the twinkie they were just callin sub-human. Or on the flip the ultra paranoid girls who already have a man in the closet and know it. Or are just so damn ugly they know if all citizens enjoy the full rights they are supposed to have. Straight men and the closet case that pays your bills. Just might up and leave your used up fun box on the side of the road.

Have a good day. And yep shock of shocks. We don't like you either half the time. Here's another blow to your clearly delicate ego. Some gays,,,,,, shhh. They look down on you and think you are worthless and of less value then horse manure. OH,,,NO!! Get over yourselves. Pathetic

64. Look, I don't think straight or gay dating should be shown on afternoon TV anyhow. That's the biggest Middle-School demographic around. Then again my little sister loves America's Next Top Model - Home of "MISS JAY" and Jay manuel, which you know are two really gay gay people as well as Benny Ninja - Runway Coach. So they're bound to see gay people on tv as they should, because it's a reality, gay people are around, they do kiss, they need to see they arent nasty species. But dating is a no go. NOW about what to watch on TV

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT - USE THE PARENTAL CONTROLS. IT'S THERE FOR A REASON. All of these people complain about how they see things they dont want to, when all of these cable and satillite systems have ways to block channels or certain shows with specific tv ratings. If you dont like LOGO - Block it, If you dont like BET - Block it, if you dont want to watch find something that's TV-14, TV-MA, PG-13, R, X, or Not rated then BLOCK THAT TOO. You have the power to chose what to watch and what not to watch. And if you find a show that's TV-14 but suitable for viewing. then just put in the password and unlock it for that 30 minute show. These things are very flexible if you use them... but u gotta use them.

Everyone likes blaming anyone but themselves.

Stop getting mad at MTV for putting on stuff that people want to watch.
Start getting mad at yourselves for not blocking what you don't want to watch

65. It's a good thing that views like that of JaRule are getting fewer and fewer (atleast in So Cal) as time passes. I'd say he should apolagize, but who really wants to hear anything out of his mouth again?
I love gay guys............ A LOT. LoL

67. i agree with Ja Rule, atleast the music containing guns and killing is parental advisory and you have to be a certain age to buy/hear it, or atleast search the net to find it..

mid-afternoon shows on mtv while the parents are trying to work and pay the bills to keep the tv on is a joke, whose the person at mtv chosing the show line up Rosie Odonnell??
i agree with what justin said at the vma's 'play more music'

i want my i want my Music TeleVision.

69. Even a loser like JaRule can get it right sometimes. Damn straight. Nothing to be proud of if you "choose" to be queer. Everything on MTV is trash and it's destroying the minds of our youth. Total trash! And GLAAD can KISS MY ASS!!!!

70. Funny thing about GLAAD and special interests groups like them: In their quest to rid the world of intolerance, they tolerate very little.

Pot meet kettle. Kettle Pot.

71. It makes me almost laugh to think that people can be so stupid! I want to ask all of you that think that homosexuality is a choice or some kinky sex act, do you remember when you decided to be straight? Because I only remember being gay, I didn't have a choice. It wasn't like one day I was thought hmmm...boys or girls?! But I do remember growing and hating myself to the point of wanting to kill myself because I thought that God had condemned me. Thank God I came to my senses and realized that I am NORMAL. I know my friends and family would be sad if I had done something stupid because society ignorant.
Being gay is normal behavior when your born gay! I can't change being gay as much as Ja Rule can't change the color of his skin. And if you don't believe that go get an education and stop putting your hang ups on me!
ja Rule you need to respect other humans and stop acting like an ignorant ...well i won't use that word but you knew what I would like to say.

75. #46 is an example of what I am talking. Ignorant TV promotes ignorant people... So what you see on TV is what you get in life. I am not saying just because you see homosexuals on TV means you will turn into one, I AM saying that if your child sees its ok to kiss another man/woman there is a chance he/she might be one. I DON'T have a problem with homosexuals, I don't think it is right, but I just think what you do is your business and ONLY your business. There is no reason to promote it on TV with sex, homosexual or not. Yes blocking the channel could put MTV under if EVERYONE would do it, at least we can pray. A majority of the viewers for MTV are young teens and homosexuals. AND who can honestly say that you have never gotten mad or hurt yourself and not said a cuss word in front of your child. I agree with #21, It is WAY easier to explain why mommy or daddy is bad for saying something, IT IS NOT easy to explain to a 5 year old what sex is.
